I'll be honest--the only "House of M" stuff I bought was the two issues of Cable/Deadpool that cross over into it. So many similarities that arise are not intentional other than both using "fade to white" and other techniques that had already been used in older stories, such as DC's Zero Hour. And as previously mentioned, some of Part 2 is actually the oldest material in the entire story--written in April 2005, before "House of M" even starts.
As for the identities of the mystery characters...I will say no more. Yer just gonna have to wait.

I do have one question about a line that's been bugging me: Peter's line about "Do we know who the father is?" Even though he's an incorrigible smartass, I can't figure out his rationale for saying that. I am, of course, assuming he was joking. So why DID he say that?
As for the delivery room scene, I thought it was perfectly done. When I had my son, that's pretty much how it went. No over-the-top theatrics for Janine, just an almost transcendental experience. And as for the soon-to-be dad, I've never seen Egon portrayed so lovingly. There's no scientist here, just a man drowning in a once-in-a-lifetime (for him, anyway) experience. Unable to speak, barely able to breathe, and then, when he was actually holding his son and realized it had really happened, all he could do was cry.
And I thought the wedding was beautiful...

Of course he was joking. In my mind, that's his instinctive smartass response when a woman announces she's pregnant. I can even imagine him saying it when he found out Dana was pregnant with Jessica. He probably got hit for it, just like he did here.

That's what I thought. Although he deserved more than Slimer smacking him...
OK, another thought. Now we know that Egon's father had been married before, and that he had tragically lost her. Am I correct in assuming that this was the relationship that produced Ellis?
*waiting for Egon to rend Nodus limb from limb*

Am I correct in assuming that this was the relationship that produced Ellis? Yeah. That's the whole compromise I worked out with Jen Spengler, to reconcile the idea of Egon having a neice (her character concept) with the actual canon, which strongly implied (if not explicitly stated) that Egon was an only child. Edison's first wife dies in childbirth or soon after, and Ellis is sent to her family to raise. Edison meets Katharine later; so technically, Ellis is his half brother and they weren't raised together. And Egon is still Katharine's only child.

This was written in the Prelude section: "I foresaw Egon Spengler embracing his destiny as the apprentice of Sarim-Lar...I foresaw the Melnitz woman finding happiness with that dolt Tully...I foresaw the death of Peter Venkman... " Fritz: I'm curious; would you ever do an alternative univserse story in which these events occurred? I enjoy "Mirror, Mirror" stories IF done well, & when good guys do bad. RGB did their version of sorts.

Wouldn't it be a real kick in the @$$ if it was an alternate-universe Egon/Janine/Peter that all happened to? That Mr. I-Know-What's-Best Nodus was picking on the wrong group of GBs?
*the preceding was # 15385 in the series of Miss Janine's random thoughts*

Abrams Effect'. Alternate universes are fun to write... when we do the Peoplebuster universes it'll be fun to see the GBUK and Westcoast versions... And then the's Apochrypha Flipside on the horizon... But she's right, Fritz. Even if just as a short story, you should try show us what could happen... If you're up for the challenge.

My version would be really short...
Zodiac Lords: Nodus, you really screwed up.
Egon: (growling)
Lords: Now, we're gonna lock you and Egon in a room together, and let him deal with you however he sees fit.
DOOR CLOSES
(sounds of massive carnage, some Sumerian swearing and body parts being ripped off)
The door then opens, and a rather messed-up Egon emerges.
Egon: Well, that must have been the other part of my destiny- ridding the universe of that incredibly sanctimonious s.o.b.

Not so much the part about Egon, but Bill Murray was rumored to cameo as Peter's ghost.

Love that picture! And the sign was perfectly in character. I see she really likes orange. ;D
