Thanks everybody. Like I kept saying, I was nervous about releasing this story--it's the "big reveal" of some things that have been slowly building from some of the very first stories I did, almost four years ago.
I'm probably going to compose a big bunch of liner notes with more answers to things, but for now a few things I just can't help but comment on...
Lol...I'm sorry, I had to do it.
Well, yeah...if Egon had disappeared in 1993, they wouldn't have had their reunion in 1997, and Venkman would've died on Thanksgiving. As for the time-twists...well, that's one of those things that can make people's heads hurt if they think about it. I like to think Nodus was actually right, he was caught in some sort of temporal loop...before Egon broke it by making the different choice in 1993.
Lol...Nodus is kind of the Anti-Anakin, isn't he? He screwed up by chosing logic, Anakin by chosing love...but then again, they both have it in common that they basically chose selfishly, and it doomed them.
Well, all I'm gonna say about that stuff is that some of the situations have been left intentionally ambiguous for now. I hope GR ends satisfactorally, but there's still room for doubt: what if Nodus was still wrong? John asks Ulforce "Am I really this Lord Gemini?" and Ulforce basically refuses to give him a straight answer.
I'll get back to some of that eventually...but not real soon. After the holidays "Chronicles of Gozer" will be priority, then some smaller stories for a while. This End Of The Universe stuff takes a lot outa ya...

GBI members being nothing but a bunch of message board posters? Satire, or a hard truth?

Is this the first mention of Peter's "other" fate? And if Egon made the choice we know he made, how could the other character exist? I know it involved diverging timelines, but I'm still just a teeny bit confused.

First off, I don’t know what you were so worried for, seems in the fashion of GB to me! I think it all sounds right. Honestly, with your love of Star Wars, and Nodus’ description, I already had that part figured, but I like it! It was interesting to see exactly how things played out.

And I liked the ending very much, just pick it up where they left off. I think it was a very interesting writing technique to build up this prophecy and then have it be false. And Peter was actually shocked speechless! Awesome-ness abounds.
My only nit pick is Egon still seems to be in denial about how his not telling Janine about them after her accident led to her leaving, it was something that he did. He needs to realize that… Maybe he should have gone back in time a little further, lol.
And of course I can’t avoid mentioning that this is Egon’s own personal version of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ this close to Christmas, lol. Life happens when you are busy making other plans, that’s something I am glad that Egon is beginning to realize. And I know that he will enjoy being a father, (mostly because I wrote it that way (shamelessly plugs for ‘A New Nightly Ritual’))
And I am very interested to find out what exactly John’s destiny will be, since Eden is apparently excluded. We know there is mention of him some 200 years later…
