Damn skippy this is fun...this is definitely turning into one wild ride. And I think I know who the characters are that Fritz has threatened us with. We're seeing every version of the team there is, except one...
The reactions to Romulus, and his reactions to this version of the team, were priceless. Every fan gripe was there. ;D I'm assuming "our" version of the team is the real one?
Please, sir, may I have some more?

I hope everybody goes back and reads both parts, 2 and 3, very carefully--put both of them together and a clearer picture of the situation should emerge. It will hopefully make more sense by the end of parts 4 and 5.

Okay I'm not freaked out anymore, I think the team in part 2 only seemed creepy because they just seemed so out of place, the dialogue worked fine for the EGB. And messa thinks Slimer sounds like sa Jar Jar Binks, hmmmm?lol This is the second scarriest thing I've ever read in GB fic. When they find Nodus, I want to kick his butt myself. ghostdiva

Take a number. It's a pretty long line, I think. ;D
OK, I'll spill. I thought the "mystery characters" were the Junior Ghostbusters, but,. after a reread, I'm not so sure they'll show up. I now believe the characters Fritz referred to when he said "ones we never dreamed he'd use" are the versions of the team we just saw in Pt 3. Am I right?

Since I basically admitted this to the beta readers, I'll spill it: The characters I was thinking of at the time I wrote that tease were the "Ghostbusters 2000" characters (Lowell, Franky, ect.). I figured nobody would think of the characters from the GB3 outline... ...and I was right

OK, I'll spill. I thought the "mystery characters" were the Junior Ghostbusters I was dreading thinking that, too. Very interesting storyline: it's complex & not too easy to figure out. I love the way it has all our complaints about character changes, etc.

I was just thinking...we know that Romulus is a descendant of the Spenglers, and that he apparently resembles JC, according to the art. We also know that good ol' Dweeb freaks every time he sees John (see Future Shocks). Any connection here? Or am I just wanting my hand held through this? I love stories that make me have to actually figure something out, but this one's driving me nuts! (In a good way ;D )

I'll also admit, when everyone jumped to the conclusion that I was talking about the Junior Ghostbusters, I honestly gave some thought to reworking Part 3 and putting them in place of the EGB crew. But I decided that since Part 3 was supposed to be pretty rooted in actual animation continuity, putting the little jerks in would straying too far from the actual show.
Plus I hate those little jerks.

With legitimate reason.
They never should've been invented.

Okay what's with the hate for the JGB's?

When even JMS doesn't like 'em/wants to run 'em over with a truck (he can borrow mine!), there's hate. Besides, they always seemed like an afterthought. Or a huge plot device.

They always seemed to be a shoehorned Deux Ex Machina (A DXM is a plot twist that comes out of absolutely nowhere), they were brought in only for a bigger tie in with the crappy Slimer! cartoon...
Aside from that, they were... they got in the way.
The Boogieman is Back could have been a great piece where Janine, with Slimer's help ventured into Boogie's realm to take the Ghostbusters their equipment back... it's dense and retarded that of all people, a bunch of kids would venture in... putting their own lives at risk in both episodes they appeared in... if they died because of their meddling then that would've been on the Ghostbusters' hands.
Okay, overexamination... backtrack...
They were lamely introduced, like the 'suped up' equipment in XGB, it wasn't needed and took away from what should have been the primary focus, the frigging Ghostbusters.
The Boogieman is Back and Halloween 2 1/2 could've been great episodes.
I guess only way I feel I can redeem them is through my Apocrypha stories and for that yet incomplete project which'll put a spin on them you never saw coming.

Ben's version of The Boogieman is Back is pretty much the closest answer we have of what if ABC didn't mess everything up and the Junior Ghostbusters should have been shot down a nanosecond after it was proposed. End of discussion.
Back on topic, Fritz seems to raise the bar on Ghostbusters Fan Fics with this series. It's best move was the timeline splitting into two seperate time lines. Causing dividing the characteristic traits spawned from the movies from the traits of the cartoons to make them in a way 'incomplete' from the mashed up versions. One timeline still had Louis Tully while the other sill had Slimer. One Venkman was married in one timeline while in the other was a bachelor. Though there are similar moments like both GBs were divided due to personal reasons. Both Egons & Janines were seperated in the two timelines. Both had a new team of Ghostbusters.
I can't wait to see part four.
