Ok, so am I the only one over hear who is very excited about this movie? I was watching the trailer the other day and noticed that there is a lingered on scene where Will and Elizabeth kiss, which is fine because I think they got married in between movies, but near the end there is a very quick glimps of what looks like Elizabeth kissing Jack. So I went back and paused and sure enough Elizabeth is kissing Jack, which I love because I think they have a lot of chemistry. In other words I'm an E/J shipper...ha ha ha. That thought crossed my mind independently, so I decided to look up a fan board for the movies; www.keeptothecode.com/bboard/index.php (the spyglass thread) and they are actually E/J shippers! So, I thought you guys might like to stop over there and see what it is like to be neutral in an argument about who should be with whom in canon/fanon. We are no longer the only fan group to have to break a board because of fighting over couple pairings. Yeah! ghostdiva

I figured someout there was another E/J couple fans felt passionately about. Yay! We're not alone!
btw, my pirate-obsessed son really wants to see this. and did you hear about the changes Disney made to the PotC ride for the movie that have some people kind of upset? I'll post a link to the article if I can find it. Come on, people, it's just an audio-animatronic figure of Jack! Now, an a-a Egon and Janine...kinda freaky...

I'm fairly excited, but I never expect too much from sequels. They are often inferior to the original and completely unnecessary, especially following a film as truly fantastic as Pirates of the Caribbean, but of course I shall go to see it with an open mind. After all, Lethal Weapon 2 is my favourite of that particular series, and I am of a seemingly rare species of people who preferred GB2.
Like many heterosexual women with eyes in their head, I am desperately in love with Johnny Depp, and I think that Pirates is one of his best performances (I am very impressed with his English accent, I must add - he obviously studied). So, Jack and Elizabeth. As a bare-boned idea, I don't like it. But it could work, depending on how they play it. I don't think Elizabeth would cheat on Will, wet and irritating though he is (although that sort of thing often doesn't seem to bother writers); but Jack might very well pursue her and maybe steal a kiss or something, I dunno.
The trouble with Keira Knightley is, she's everywhere. It happens, of course, when somebody is flavour of the month. I'm getting a bit sick of her, personally. She uses a really irritating voice to play Elizabeth, but I know that isn't her real voice (I think the one she used in Bend it Like Beckham - ah, classic sequel-less British cinema - is probably her real one), so I suppose that makes her a good actress or something.

Yes I too have eyes in my head, and a pair of glasses to boot, I downloaded the desktop of JD onto my computer. I am very excited about this, Disney usually does very good sequels, Toy Story 2 was great I thought, and Shrek, though technically not Disney, and of course all of the Lethal Weapon movies are great. I have heard bits and pieces of the plot, and I think it will be as good, if not better than the original. THough it may run the risk of being slightly repetative. We will find out in 11 days either way, lol. ghostdiva

Disney usually does very good sequels We must have a different understanding of Disney and sequels... Mostly Disny's sequels have been awful cash tie-ins released straight to video. Toy Story 2 was an exception because they didn't want it to be a straight to video sequel.

Yes that's true. Most of Disney Sequels has been awful and some of them are basically a reashes of the first movie. Some but not all.

Yes we have a different definition of sequel. I was only considering the full length films that plyed in the theater. I am well aware that the 'straight to video' sequels are not very good as a general rule. I was only speaking of the theater releases. I usually call the former 'straight to videos' I don't even think of them as sequels, but I suppose they are, so just consider what I said as only pertaining to the theatrical releases. ghostdiva

I'm mostly excited. When I saw the 1st film, based on a few lines, I suggested to my guest: "If they made a sequel, that'd be a perfect storyline." I think they did. I'm lending my Pirates DVD to a friend who hasn't seen it yet (he claims to be a sci-fi fan, too). He'll see it w/me & I have to see Superman Returns w/him. Good Deal!

Pirates tops my list of this summer's must-see movies. I actually didn't really want to see the first film until after I went to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, where piracy ran rampant. After that, man, you can't tear me away from the film or the "Pirates!" card game.
But, man oh man, this film looks great. Bill Nighy looks ten kinds of badass as Davy Jones, completely eclipsing his performances in Love, Actually and Slartibartfast in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Plus all kindsa f'ed-up, Lovecraftian-looking zombie sea pirates? I'm friggin' there, man!!
Full Must-See List: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Superman Returns Clerks II Monster House Nacho Libre and, of course, Snakes on a Motherf*ckin' Plane!!
Most of those films should make up for the suckfest that was X3 and the lame-but-decent performance of Over the Hedge. Pirates should take care of that, mostly.

I'd get booted off the 'zone (and probably out of GBWC) if I said that I already saw the only movie I was really interested in this summer...here kitty kitty...

No, that would only happen if you said that "movie you most wanted to see" was that new Adam Sandler crap-fest (or is the phrase "Adam Sandler crap-fest" redundant?)

*breathes a heavy sigh of relief*
I have no interest in that one. Seriously thinking about Superman Returns, though, even though I'm not a huge Supes fan...

The whole movie was good except the ending, it was too cheesey.
SPOILERS!!! DO NOT LOOK IF YOU DONT WANNA GET IT SPOILED!
You've been warned..............
Stop now!
ok then, the ending was disapointing because I think Supes should have died or stayed in his coma. That way, his son could have gone to the fortress of solitude and found crystals supes had been making all along and then he would have been on his way to becoming the new Superman. idk, just a thought.

Gonna see Supes Sun, pirates probably next Sun. Which's just fine, 'cause I'll need a distraction that day. Then Monster House, baby! Don't think I'm gonna make Garfield 'cause it's not at my local theater and really don't wanna shell out for the train. Ah well.
