Spoiler Alert: If you haven't read it and want to be surprised, stop now.
Thank you.
Another great issue from 88MPH--not quite as laugh-out-loud funny as the previous two, but instead building tension as Things Get Serious. Micheal Draverhaven makes his move.
Dabb built a lot of development into this character in a short amount of time--the two pages at the beginning and then again at the end where he soliliquizes to Ray both times create a portrait of a rather lonely and (in his own words) "disturbed" little boy who, due to the experimental accident, looks to be an even more disturbed man.
Other notes:
Slimer! Dabb (or was it Sebastien?) did say that the first issue of the ongoing series would not be Slimer's first appearance...now we know why: he pops up as Draverhaven's puppet in Legion#3 (making Dr. Riddle's jokes about Professor Dweeb even more ironic I hope he gets to slime Venkman next issue just for old time's sake...
The whole flashback was excellant; in addition to the above development of Draverhaven, we get to see Venkman polishing his routines in a scene no doubt intentionally reminiscant of the co-ed Jennifer in GB1, especially Ray interrupting. A definite funny moment.
Egon playing around with transdimensional physics was a nice recall of the RGB Egon, who did indeed eventually succeed in creating a dimensional transport device (ie "Egon's Ghost", "The Copycat", the ECTO-4 from the Now Comics run)
Back in the present, Janine's latest attempt to draw his notice provoked the funniest part of the book, between Venkman's reaction and of course her final threat to "shove this dumb thing down [ his ] throat so far [ he'll ] be crappin' plastic for a week."
Still, with the solicitation for regular series #2, I wonder if (like his RGB counterpart) Egon's noticing more than he lets on...I guess we'll see...
Thank you.
