Yeah!!!! Thanks Miss Janine...Two Captain Jacks...if only! Now I need to figure out how to get back to Disney World. I haven't been in 5 years, but I need to go see Jack 'in person'.
I can't wait until Friday. I've already ordered my ticket.
And someone was talking about Supes Returns...I saw it today, and may I say that they are going to be hard pressed to top that on the emotional level.
And I think the script writers have read some of Fritz's stuff, and Janine would have a hard time sitting through it, I think...might have to add it to the list of movies the twins can't see.
Okay, enough gibberish on my part.
Thanks again Miss Janine! ghostdiva

Actually, there may be more than one Jack figure in the ride. A rollercoaster site I went to had pictures, and I counted at least three, maybe four..
Glad you liked it!

okay, so I saw the movie. As a matter of fact I saw it twice. Was it worth it?
YES!
The movie was really good. and it definately lived up to my expectations. I saw it twice by accident. I went to the 4oclock and a friend called and wanted me to go to the 7 oclock with her. But I enjoyed it both times.
Now for SPOLIERS: (for the rest of this post)

It was only half a movie! I was shocked when the credits started rolling! There was no resolution to any of the problems, it was like reading part one of one of Fritz's stories. And I had no idea that it was going to just stop in the middle of the story like that. That would be one of my only gripes. The other one is that in some parts of the movie the lighting is a real issue. There are even camera rainbows in the movie, you'd think that they would have reshot those parts, though I can understand there happening, because most of the movie was shot outside on the water.
Best line: "I want my jar of dirt." -Jack Sparrow You'll have to see the movie to find out why.
And I am very excited to see how they resolve this entire thing. I understand that the 3rd part has already been shot, but I don't know when it will come out.
Also the action was really intense...and the water creature reminded me of the thing in EGB episode "Back in the Sattle Part 2"

Not sure, but I'm pretty sure they're aiming to have pt 3 out next summer. That's probably why nothing was resolved.

That's sounds like a good movie. I have to go see it when I have a chance.

It was good, but it was purposely set up for the 3rd act next summer. (I found the 1st one funnier) My Pirate Flags are flying high at home. The theatre was packed for 3PM show. I was stuck in the 2nd row w/a stiff neck, but it was worth it.

Best line: "I want my jar of dirt." -Jack Sparrow I agree. That's a great line. Johnny did a lot for this movie. But. In spite of his marvellous, face-saving efforts I found it very disappointing.

SPOILERS Even when Elizabeth was being dragged across the boat from her ankle by a tenticle? I thought you would have loved that, same thing happened to Kylie, lol. ghostdiva Lol, actually, I noticed that. And you were right: it is kind of like the grabby thing from "Back in the Saddle". But unfortunately I don't like "Back in the Saddle" much either. It was entertaining, there were some good lines and, as I said, Johnny Depp was marvellous (has he ever done a sequel before this one? I can't think of any). And I'm glad Elizabeth only kissed Jack in order to sacrifice him to the monster. (It just seems morally wrong and - what's probably worse - anti-cannon to me to be a Jack/Elizabeth shipper when she's obviously supposed to be with weedy pretty boy Will. Isn't it a bit like being a Janine/Louis shipper??) But the first movie was something very, very special. In my humble opinion it was fine on its own, the sequel adds absolutely nothing, it isn't nearly as good as the original and they needn't have bothered. A bit like "Back in the Saddle", really.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to get around to this. But I look at it as Will is more in the Louis seat. (bear with me) Jack is the true pirate who does all of the cool stuff and attracts the ladies, while Will only acts that way when he feels it is necessary to win some sort of attention or praise or place in comparison with Jack. Something that Louis does by wanting to be a ghostbuster. Now there is also the entire issue of who is more suited for the other, which is the main point, IMO, in either fandom. Jack and Elizabeth are more suited to each other, I think, just as Egon and Janine are more suited to each other. It was never a question of Janine should be with Egon because she met him first, it was a mental and spiritual connection that she does not have with Louis, and I feel the same is true with Elizabeth and Will. If Elizabeth hadn't saved Will's life, and had instead met him on shore, I don't think she would have ever held the idea of marrying him. By the way they met, it fed a longing for adventure and piratism (sp?) that Elizabeth has always loved, and it is a false connection she has made with Will, and Jack is the real thing, because he is what she wants... (Ok, I'll stop) Anyway, Elizabeth doesn't need to be trapped into marriage with a unick, now does she? ghostdiva

Scene Spoiler:

By the way...I was watching an interview with Orlando Bloom , and he said that the kiss between E/J was left out of his script intentionally, because they wanted the reaction Will gave to be genuine, so Orlando was genuinly shocked then, which I think is funny because my first thought at the scene was...'boy, that look on Will's face seemed so fake', lol.

Yet more SPOILERS By the way...I was watching an interview with Orlando Bloom , and he said that the kiss between E/J was left out of his script intentionally, because they wanted the reaction Will gave to be genuine, so Orlando was genuinly shocked then, which I think is funny because my first thought at the scene was...'boy, that look on Will's face seemed so fake', lol. Oh, honestly, that one too?? They claim that they surprised them with Geoffrey Rush (Barbosa) at the end so their looks of amazement would be genuine - apparently they were told it would be that woman who wasn't even a proper character in the first movie (I can't even remember her name - one of the ones who slapped Jack). They're just trying to be too clever for their own good now. (Like Orlando Bloom would react in the same way as Will anyway - he [probably] isn't planning to marry Keira Knightley). Jack doesn't strike me as the marrying kind. I see no reason for him to want Elizabeth that much more than any of the others. He'd never get married, which is what she wants - when he offered to marry her on the Pearl, I got the distinct impression he planned to dump her straight afterwards. And after the entire first film was building up to Elizabeth and Will being together ('I'm not good enough for you, I'm just a blacksmith'... 'I'll marry you, Jack Davenport, if only you'll find Will and bring him back to me!!') it just really would have bugged me if there'd suddenly been a big turnaround and they'd told us, No, actually, we've changed our minds - she loves Jack. That happens in sequels - it bothers me. But, thankfully, they didn't. Not yet anyway. But I don't hold out much hope for part 3 in terms of plot - maybe I won't be pleasantly surprised.

This may only be interesting to me, but I thought it made some good points. Argue away, lol. And Fritz can feel free to shorten that link, I haven;t figured out that trick yet. ghostdiva Link

Crazy, man. I just modified Ghostdiva's post, because the link was broken in the middle. No matter how many times I retyped it, with no spaces, one would always appear in the message. This is madness! I thought, on the verge of tearing my hair out. It makes so little sense that some people may even have trouble believing it. So anyway, I decided to try shortening the link, without much hope that it would work, but whaddayaknow it did.
So anyway, onto the article itself. What's it basically saying? Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is sort of like Ghostbusters 2, only better. Off the top of my head, I can think of nothing I agree with less.
I think I'm in a minority here, but I actually preferred GB2. I thought it was completely unnecessary, as sequels tend to be, but I enjoy it and it makes me laugh just a little bit more than GB1, and that is one of the ways in which I measure the quality of a film.
To reiterate my feelings on Dead Man's Chest: it sucked. They had a wonderful movie there with The Curse of the Black Pearl, and the sequel was horribly disappointing to me. As I'm sure I said, Johnny Depp did a wonderful job with the material he was given, and anyway he's always a good reason to keep looking at the screen. But it was, overall, a bad film. It could have been good, I really believe that - but it was such a mistake to think of the title first and then make up a stupid story around it, which is quite clearly what happened.
