As I'm sure I said, Johnny Depp did a wonderful job with the material he was given, and anyway he's always a good reason to keep looking at the screen. But it was, overall, a bad film. It could have been good, I really believe that - but it was such a mistake to think of the title first and then make up a stupid story around it, which is quite clearly what happened. LOL. If you put in Bill murray for Johnny Depp, you would have my exact feelings conserning GB2. (I think that was more or less my point.) Boy, you sure are fun to talk too. ghostdiva

We can only hope the 3rd one goes out on a high note (related to a ST film theory: odd POTC films are good; even POTC films are bad).

Not one word of this somewhat condemning review surprises me. Of course I intend to watch the movie for myself and form my own judgements - but I can't help expecting something at least as crap as the last one. Why do they do it? Why do they make a wonderful movie, and then as soon as they realise that everyone loves it decide to ruin it with a half-baked sequel? I very strongly suspect that the answer is money, pure and simple. The Curse of the Black Pearl is absolutely brilliant - they should have just left it as it was. And just why is Depp - a serious and talented actor, in stark contrast to pretty-boy Bloom - doing these sequels? I think - I think - he never did a sequel before (*shudder*) Dead Man's Chest. Does he really think it's a good film? Well, maybe he does - plenty of fans and critics don't agree with me that it was absolute rubbish and a travesty of the original.

This movie sucked balls! I'd rather pretend that it never happened and just the first one was made as a stand-alone than seeing the third. I never was that disappointed by a franchise.

I'm so glad someone else thinks so, I felt very alone there! That is absolutely 100% word for word everything I feel about these movies. But I will watch the third... even though I don't want to.
