Okay, for those who avoid MTV, Pimp My Ride is a show where a rapper goes and gets some kid's POS car and takes it to West Coast Customs where they "pimp it out". You know, fix it up, paint it, add crap to it...
Anyhoo...I don't think these guys at WCC have any concept of practicality at all. You got these teenage kids living with their parents (at least on all the ones I've seen) who no doubt have to go shopping and got friends to drag around and such. These guys take their cars and most times they put TVs and video games or other electronics in the trunks, speakers and electronics replacing the back seats, the glove compartments...what have you.
Once in a while, I see some useful things but overall, what the hell is the point of half of that stuff? Other than heightened risk for theft, battery drain and no room to transport your friends to utilize the purpose of what all these electronics were put in for! Seriously, once the novelty has worn off...what's the point?

My husband and I watch that show, and I had the same question. The recipients think it's cool, and I guess they know what WCC can do when they ask to have their rides pimped.
*would love to see what they would do with my Sportage*

I haven't seen this show, or anything on MTV in years and years, out of principle.
They're part of the conspiracy to keep kids ignorant--they market being uneducated, apathetic, materialistic, and even violent as "cool".
(I could go off on an entire rant worthy of the Crossfire board on that...)
Anyway, what makes me wonder--how are these stupid kids going to pay their insurance rates? You can bet putting all that sh*t in raises the value of their car big time, and suddenly their part-time job at Burger Hell isn't going to be enough, I bet...

Here's the latest I felt should be mentioned: TVs in the BUMPERS.
That's right. Yesterday saw an ep where they put 4 7 inch TVs in the bumpers of a 2003 Toyota. Yeah, THOSE won't be stolen.

Tv in the bumpers?! That must be crazy how can they fit a tv in there and what if that car get rear-ended?

7 inches ain't that big, in place of the side turn signals. And oddly enough, the whole reason the car was pimped was 'cause it was hit by an RV.

Oh I understand now. But still it's kind of weird though.
