I'm going to start some threads on older stories--maybe ones people have forgotten about; maybe it'll get some more activity in this place. I'll try to go back through the archive with a new thread every day or two. This was the very first story I submitted to Ghostbusters.net: Ghostbusters: Fateful EncounterEgon Spengler goes on a little trip to the 1964 World's Fair, and in the Mort Weisinger tradition has his "true" first meeting with someone of no small significance to him! Inspired by a scene deleted from Ghostbusters

Oh, yeah!!! ;D
I like this one to. Little Janine is just too much.
I love how you connected it to that deleted scene. I wish they would have left that in the movie. Even if all the other Janine and Egon scenes had been cut that would still would have kinda fit in there. Especially with the Peter line afterward.

Glad you got a kick out of it. I enjoyed trying to imagine Janine as a hyperactive four year old, and it was a blast (I try to put some of that same hyperactivity into her kids, though not as much--with that Spengler DNA moderating it and all...) Yeah, I thought the "lucky coin" scene worked great, and should've been in the movie. I eventually plan to touch on the coins again For those who don't know who Mort Weisinger was, he was the editor of the Superman family of comics during the Fifties and Sixties. He often had stories using time travel to do things like have Superman set his parents up on their first date (I know...shades of Back to the Future) or meet young Bruce Wayne before his parents were even killed. A lot of the stories were really corny, but are fondly remebered by Silver Age buffs still. So now you know, and knowing...well, you know the rest ;D

I'm gonna start bumping some of these older stories in order, because sometimes I think they get lost in the shuffle.
Haven't read my first posted story lately--or ever? This is it.

Yep. It's August again (or, well, it will be tomorrow, anyway). Time for me to start bumping all this old crap again.
Once again, see how my career as a Canon Nazi got started.

Okay Fritz, I really want you to talk about this story. I am interested in the fact that it was the first thing you submitted, why? Was it the first thing you wrote? Does this story have some alterior motive in its existance other than the what meets the eye? Considering that some of you later stories have major plot payoffs in time travel and the E/J relationship, it makes me wonder if this is not a 'key' to the entire storyline. Or was it just the first story you happened to write that played around with time travel, and did it spark the current storyline without being part of the sutext? I just want to know. ghostdiva

Hey, I don't think it's "old crap"! I had been there a while until I discovered it. The bumps let some people new to all this find it more easily.

Okay Fritz, I really want you to talk about this story. I am interested in the fact that it was the first thing you submitted, why? Was it the first thing you wrote? I actually wrote "Clinically Insane" "Terror On The Jersey Turnpike", and "Invasion of the Danish Snatchers" before this one. But I decided to submit "Fateful Enounter" first for a couple of reasons... 1. "Clinically Insane" was sorta an EGB story, and had no Ghostbusting action. It was very continuity heavy. 2. "Terror" and especially "Invasion" were much longer stories. My thought at the time was 'start small". Heh heh heh...I'm not going to answer that one for now...

I can honestly say this was the first of Fritz's stories I read. It was when he was leaving me nice reviews at GBN, and I thought, Aww, what a nice guy - I must repay him by reading and commenting on his fanfiction. Oddly enough, a little trip back to GBN shows me that I didn't actually comment until Fritz's second story. I can't imagine why I didn't comment on this one, but anyway, I remember my first thought was: Aahhh, someone who likes Janine.
