Well, at long last an update:
Last week I was measured...and just this morning I recieved a shiny new prosthetic. I'm not really up and walking yet--that will take some more therapy time--but I've stood up without holding onto something for the first time since September, and even walked a little bit with a walker.
It's gonna take some getting used to, but it's a nice step forward (figuratively and literally)

Yeah ;D ;D That's such good news! What kind of prostetic is it? ghostdiva Well, it's pretty basic, unsurprisingly--I wear a rubberly liner directly over my leg; there's a big screw that attaches to the end of it. The limb itself goes over the liner--there's a plastic part that covers and supports the stump, and the screw ini the liner attaches at the bottom of it. Below the plastic cover is a metal post that ends in a rubber foot. The ankle isn't articulated or anything like on more expensive models--since I have no outside health insurance (I am pending on Medicaid) I'm sure this is probably the best I could get.

That's wonderful news! I'm very pleased that you have a shiny new prosthesis. It' ll probably take a while to get used to it, but once you do, I'm sure you'll be running around the block in no time.

I look forward to seeing him running around the block myself, seeing as he was not wont to do such things even when he still had both of his original feet. Seriously, his new foot looks great (we recently ran into an old acquaintance we hadn't seen in about two years, and he had no idea why Fritz was in a chair until he rolled up his pant leg and showed the metal post that now comprises his left calf). Any step towards him no longer needing someone to help him to get his chair in and out af the trunk of his car is a step in the right direction.
