And I think Al is thankful that you don't use the Peter Venkman tactic of 'milking it up as much as possible'.
Seriously though Fritz, I wish you all the luck in the rest of your recovery.
You know, I should've twigged that something was up when Al mentioned the physio therapy...but it went straight over my head. But it should be good once the preothesis arives, as I don't know how hard it would be to make your home wheelchair accessable...are there some areas which would be hard to accommodate a wheelchair?

It took some doing, but we've finally got the place a little more navigable. The only places left he can't get in to, are places he doesn't go very often. We've even got the restroom wheelchair accessible now. We spent three hours in an outpatient waiting room this morning to learn that his leg is not healing as quickly as the doctors would like. A few minor changes in his therapy regimen are planned. Pray for the best...

I'm glad that things are getting a little better for Fritz, but I'm sorry to hear his leg isn't healing as quickly as it should. I wish him the very best of luck with his recovery, and I hope that things get better for him soon.

How ever many rooms do you guys have in your house? We have two bedrooms between three people - we go everywhere. Well, it probably won't help Fritz to heal any faster, but it's worth a try - give him another hug from me, Al.

It's not healing as quick as they'd like, but it's still healing--we're moving forward, just not as quick as they'd prefer.
One of the changes to the treatment regiment involves sitting and getting a Vancomyacin drip twice a day, that takes like an hour and 15 each time. (It's really eating into my writing and art time...)
But the good news is that I'm mostly behaving and the blood sugar level is good most of the time.
I just take it a day at a time.

I just take it a day at a time. I think Alcoholics Anonymous called that mantra a long time ago, you're not an alcoholic, are you...ARE YOU?! Sorry to hear that the drip's cutting into your time, I know how frustrating it is to want to get something finished, but not have as much time as you used to...that happens with College Hope everything goes well with the healing, and that it goes okay.

Thanks, CJ
I find out tomorrow whether they think the wound's healing enough for them, or whether I'll require additional surgery to, as the doctor put it, "clean it ou"
From the outside, it's made remarkable progress the last week or so. So obviously, I'm very hopeful that I won't have that additional surgery.
Al and I will keep everyone informed.

Fritz, I've wished you luck a couple of times by e-mail, but I guess this is one of those times when you can never have too much luck bestowed upon you. I expect you'll already know by the time you read this... well, I wished you luck again, ok? I really hope it did the trick.

Must have The orthopedic doctor was, to paraphrase closely, "plesantly surprised to be wrong" in her earlier pessimism about it. Even the physical therapist, who saw it last Wednesday, was impressed just by the progress over the last week. I'm waiting to see what Special Medicine says Thurdsay about my antibiotic program, but I'd say things are looking very promising.

All right - I have magical powers! Seriously, Fritz - I'm really pleased for you. You should definitely have a party. I'd come but I can't really afford to fly across the Atlantic right now.

I go back to Orthopedics in three weeks. The doctor says if I've made as much progress by then as I've made recently that visit may start the process.
