Obviously this thread is about my 2nd favorite couple I like to support:
Taichi "Tai" Kamiya & Sora Takenouchi.
This IMHO is the equivalent of the holy couple that is Egon & Janine. The male half has either weird(Egon's trademark big curl in RGB, Tai's big hair can be considered weird as well) or has brown hair(Egon in the movies & the 88MPH comics, Tai also has brown hair). While female half has red hair. Also there's a second male that the female half inexplicably fall in love with in the sequel movie/series, i.e. Janine acting like a slut & doing it with Louis Tully in GB2, Sora starting to go out with Matt in Season 2/Digimon Adventure 02. Which brings me the question on my mind now. WHAT WERE THE WRITERS THINKING? I mean we know Harold Ramis was behind the L/J bullcrap but dang it what drug, were they on to make Sora do a 180 in personality.
Kinda makes me wish there was a "Sora, You've Changed" a la the famous RGB in which Tai confesses his love for Sora. Unfortunately there wasn't & if there's anyone actually followed that sham of epilogue in the Season 2 Finale(i.e. the one were TK an novel writer, Davis owns a noodle cart, & Matt's an astronaut.) Matt & Sora are married. But that's a minority, personally I like the future in Fritz's "Digimon Quest" fan fiction where Tai & Sora are married.

Nice to see, after some of that stuff in Crossfire, there's something we agree on, Donny. You crystalized most of my thoughts on the matter beautifully, and if it makes you feel any better I've spent some time on the official Digimon board ( www.digimonccg.com , run by Bandai America. It probably won't surprise anyone that I post there as "Veedramon") and there's a lot of people who agree with us. Don't get me wrong--I like Matt, but there was absolutely nothing in Season 1 to hint at this. And then, abruptly, BAM, WTF? It just felt like some writer deciding to shake things up just for the sake of shaking things up. Granted, okay, the characters are like eleven when we first meet them. In the Real World, not to many people marry someone they knew when they were eleven--but it does happen. And I remember someone arguing that it was more 'realistic" for Sora to marry someone besides Tai for just that reason--I had to point out to them that it doesn't make her going off with Matt anymore "realistic" because she'd know him almost as long. Basically, it felt like we were cheated. That crap-ass ending cheated us there, and (I know there's a little more controversy on this point) cheated us on Tai's sister Kari and TK. I thought Joe and Mimi were cute together too, but as flighty and dingy as she was, I could understand Joe ultimately deciding not to deal with that. Thanks for plugging my story, by the way. Harldy anybody seems to care, but if the inclination strikes I may try to get some more parts up--the text is already written though like Chapter Nine, but I'd need to finish some of those profile boxes on some of the critters that appear in Part Two

I'll say this much about this subject, untill someone can show me how Sora and Matt could ever fit together, it's gonna be Tai all the way. Besides, weren't there some Digimon eps that had Tai say Sora's name during a life and death situation and vice versa? Not to mention the Digimon movie pretty much had them as all but a couple?

Speaking as an avowed Matt fan, I have to say that I agree with you on this. (Perhaps this would have been more timely THREE MONTHS ago, buuuut...)
I just don't see it. Sora is the sort who seems to prefer a sort of "mother" role: she wants to take care of you. Whereas I suspect Matt would be irritated by the suggestion that he can't take care of himself.
Then conflict ensues.
As for Tai? He gets so wrapped up in what he's doing he might not even notice she's looking out for him. If he did, I doubt he'd mind.

Yes it would have been, but you're forgiven.
And I have to totally agree with you there.

And it's not like they hadn't already come up with a love interest for Matt--they'd spent the entire season setting things up with Davis's sister Jun. That whole sequence was howlingly funny at times. So not only did this twist out of nowhere f*** up Tai and Sora, it made most of the stuff they'd done with Matt that same season pretty pointless too.

I admit that I'm probably not clued up enough to join in with this, but I'm gonna give it a shot. I went away from what I watched of Season 2 thinking Tai and Sora definitely had something. They weren't around so much in that series, were they - but there was this episode where they were in it for some reason, and Matt was there with his band (how cool! - I knew I liked Matt), and Tai was kind of like, "You fancy Matt, don't you Sora?" and she was kind of like, "No, Tai, I fancy you." Er... to paraphrase. If I watched any more episodes after that, I don't remember a thing that happened. But then again I'd almost forgotten that the show existed until Fritz reminded me, and since then I've been having these weird kind of Digimon flashbacks. Crazy.
