Just occasionally, I have little ideas that I can't really do anything with, or that I don't really do anything with because they'd be of such limited interested. So sometimes, to get them off my chest, I'll write them up into a short story that I sometimes don't even show anyone. From now on, when this happens, I've decided I'm going to post links to those short stories in this thread, for anyone who's idly curious. So, first up: 'Out': one of those with limited interest, giving the hitherto almost silent Lars Wallance a bit of screen time. This is set one weekend in June or July 2020 (I inspired myself with 'Without' ;D).

Wow. And now Lars Wallance is a real human being. Awesome!

You seem to use names that relate to Star Wars a lot, is that so or is it just coincidence?

Wow. And now Lars Wallance is a real human being. Awesome! Andre must surely be quaking in fear by now... imagine what could happen when his daughter finally grows up. ;D

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Indeed, Andre's not going to be happy in the summer of 2020. Emilia would be twenty-two at that time - I guess she's his last hope.

Anakin Skywalker's step brother, who later raises Luke, is named Owen Lars.
I don't think it was deliberate, just a funny little coincidence.

Yes, Mr. Tully got what I meant. Thats a pretty funny coincidence though, isnt it? Even funnier, I didnt think Louis was a Star Wars fan.

‘Just Friends’After a lot of dithering and two appalling false-starts, I can finally show you something of the adult(ish) Max Miller and Rose Rivera. This little scenario will occur in 2022, because eighteen is a big time in one’s life, and because that year seems to be having a bit of a lull with so much happening in ’21 and ’23. SPOILERWell. I’m sure I shouldn’t feel the need to explain myself. Quite honestly, I think three gay characters out of everyone in our comparatively vast Ghostbusters universe seems statistically quite probable. But I won’t be happy unless I let you know that this is an idea I’ve been toying with for quite some time now - I seem to remember it first occurred to me sometime in late 2003 or possibly early ’04, shortly after I created Rose (not that I’ve been agonising over it ever since then - it would crop up occasionally, and then disappear for months at a time). The final decision was made fairly recently - I couldn’t tell you exactly when, because my memory isn’t that good, but I would estimate sometime at the beginning of the year. I went with a yes for all kinds of reasons that I shan’t go into, because I don’t imagine for a moment that anyone is interested. I made the decision before I decided Lars Wallance was going to be gay, and Rose was so much in the back of my mind when I made that decision for him that I had almost forgotten her. So now I seem to have outed both of them in fairly quick succession. Well, why not?

Uncle Carl. If anyone's going to explode, it'll be Uncle Carl.
Very touching. And some subtle set-up for some future stories, possibly most notably Max's line about meeting his birth mother.

This is a very good story. As Fritz said, it's very touching, and eerily similar to the way one of my friends came out - the only difference being that he was a guy and it was one of my girl friends who had the Max-like affection for him. They were the same age as Max and Rose, as well. Wow, that story really brought back some memories. Anyway, thanks for such a lovely story. I really like these one-shot stories. They really help to flesh out the characters. Great stuff!

It's... well, it's not amazing - but I do occasionally seem to write something that strikes a chord with at least one person I know nothing about (more often outside GB fanfiction, but sometimes in, as Silent Seraphim attests). Still, this world is full of coincidences. Uncle Carl. If anyone's going to explode, it'll be Uncle Carl. How true. Max, Rose and I were all thinking along the lines of her immediate family when I wrote that bit - she'd tell them first, obviously - but you're right, of course. Not that it's any of his goddamn business whether his niece is gay or not (and at least it's not Kevin), but quite honestly, I don't think she'll care what he thinks. It'd probably bother her parents more, on her behalf. I may have to write that up one day - I do like writing conflict. *evil laugh* I get the impression from American TV that gay men are more of a big deal to a lot of people than gay women. An episode of South Park springs to mind, but there's other stuff too - or am I way off with that? Anyway, thanks for your comments.

And the family grows... 2025 is further in the future than anything else anybody's done yet (other than the Romulus scene at the end of "Future Shocks") but since nobody other than immediate family appears, no conflicts no matter what happens. Can't comment on much else--I'll never give birth, and at this point I would be surprised if I ever get to inflict the condition on anyone either.
