What was your thoughts to this episode? I thought it was a good one when the guys and Janine had to find new jobs and then the guys doing crimebusting. I also enjoyed the Egon and Janine moment. in my rating I give this a 10 ;D

I often find myself surprised at some of the complaints to this episode. I felt that it was a unique take on the familiar concept and showed that it doesn't have to be applied to just ghosts. Okay, it doesn't work too well for other things... but hardly a terrible episode. Good animation quality, decent dialogue and of course... scenes of pure shippage. WOOT

Yes that is so true. It was a enjoyable episode despite the flaws.

I know our Great Friend Doc Ryedale hated it...but not me. I thought there was a few bits of sloppy storytellling (The "Crime Lord" didn't have a real name? They really stopped all the crime in New York City? That's even sillier than the later claim that they "caught all the ghosts"...) but it had some fun moments. It was even suggested in one of the GBI books the idea of running subplots where the Ghostbusting business got so slow that the members of the franshise would have to go get "real" jobs. Plus it introduced two ideas I've run with in the days since: 1. Using a PKE Meter to track human bio-signatures. 2. That the equipment can indeed be configured to work against humans. On the Mark 4 Proton Pack there's a "Setting 5" which basically works just like the Crimebuster settings. (Though to keep things in balance, it's almost useless against anyone with much supernatural power at their disposal) ... ... Oh, yeah, and the hug was cool too.

I actually have a screencap of the hug framed on my wall. Along with the wedding picture...
Oh, yeah, I can imagine the fun the crooks had actually getting Janine bound, gagged, and out of the firehouse.

Didn't the crimebusting equipment work by shooting jail cell-shaped proton streams? Please tell me "Setting 5" is just a normal "lasso" stream.

I thought the cell was formed by something the guys did with the trap.

That was my thought--basically the Confinement setting reconfigured to work on organic beings. Not intended to do much damage. And that's no matter how it was portrayed on TV.

I thought the cell was formed by something the guys did with the trap. The trap just changed the cage from wavy proton streams into straight beams of light. I checked the tape to make sure I was remembering it right before I posted, lol.

There are a few episodes, this one included, where I can remember things in them that were not shown during the Fox Family run. Do any of you remeber any of this? It may just have been the writer in me imagining different scenes, lol. But in this ep. I remember a scene the was to 'check up' on Janine during the course of the story and she was already in the train and was yelling at her captures things that any comic book captee would say 'When the Ghostbusters get their hands on you you'll be sorry, and don't think that they won't come looking for me either...' Anyway one of the guys came up to her after that lifted her chin to say something to her and then gagged her. I thought it was really funny. But I also remeber a scene in 'Janine's Day Off' where Victor found Janine's diary in her purse and started reading it to everyone at the table, and a line about Egon being a 'red, hot stud muffin.' Please tell me I'm no the only one to remember this. ghostdiva

When we first see Janine in the subway car, she's already bound and gagged. And we didn't see her captured. And as for Victor, that line would have cracked me up, but I don't recall hearing that, either.
Of course, I could be mistaken, but I don't think so. Anybody know for sure, one way or the other?

Sorry, folks...I'm a "Ghostbusted" hater.
The storytelling was sloppy, the ideas were silly, and the trap cages were one of the worst things I've ever seen.
Okay, I'll buy the setting for humans, no matter how ridiculous it sounds, but the "proton cage" effect? Bah. I'd prefer to see it sorta like what was happening to Vigo in GB2 when they shot him.
IMO, there are MUCH better episodes.
I liked the ones that were actually "spooky"....where the ghosts actually looked intimidating and terrifying. GOOD EXAMPLE: "Follow that Hearse" BAD EXAMPLE: "Ghosts R Us"

I did actually see that episode within the last, sort of, two years. But I haven't posted any comments until now because I've pretty much forgotten it (unfortunately my memory is poo). But I do remember that I thought it was a bit rubbish. I don't like it, but I can't support my opinion with evidence. Sorry.

I agree it wasn't one of the best (except for the shippage), but it was neat to see that every ep didn't have to involve a lot of running around and blasting.
