I now disliked the new equipment...A lot of RGB purists seem not to like the new equipment. There are few quotes in this thread saying basically that, but Ben's is just so wonderfully plain and explicit. And I finally have an answer... at least, I can argue a case for the new style of trap.
Somebody (possibly also Ben) once said they were cumbersome because they were bigger. I say, so what? Size isn't everything, as they say. My brother had the idea of re-watching EGB lately, so of course I am watching it with him, and it occurs to both of us that a chunky circular trap is much more manoeuvrable than one shaped like a shoebox. They get chucked around a lot, and with only one flat side there's no danger of it landing on the wrong one - and round objects are more throwable anyway (as per frisbees and balls). And my brother pointed out that the new traps are easier to use independently of the proton packs. They've got special grip for if you need to hold them up in front of your chest and suck something inside, which happens actually rather a lot. My brother's words: "They're better, really."
Actually, there is something that bugs me that I never bothered to point out. They can't make up their minds whether that horribly uncomfortable looking thing Kylie wears has sleeves. When she's wearing her gloves and elbow pads, it does. When she takes all that other stuff off, it doesn't. There's one scene, in "The Infernal Machine", where she has to strip down a little bit on-screen (she's dangling from some scaffolding and wants to make herself a bit lighter), and when she takes the body armour off she's still got sleeves. Next time the she's in shot, they're gone. What are they, like, detachable sleeves?
