Well, gosh - is anyone interested? I must post a few of my thoughts somewhere, and quite honestly there's no talking to the Danny Phantom fan community - my experiences on the boards were singularly unrewarding. Anyway most of them won't have seen the final episode yet - honestly, it never occurred to me that we'd have season 3 before it was aired in America, which is why I've managed to miss all but the last three episodes on its first run - I didn't bother checking. Silly of me. But anyway.
Half an hour before I type this, "Phantom Planet", the feature-length finale of Danny Phantom, finished. And my goodness it was good. Much better than I was expecting. I'm not going to post a long list of all the bits I liked, because not very many people here are going to care - but there were some truly lovely character moments, and they didn't even overdo the action sequences - they were actually pretty cool.
The kiss was BRILLIANT! The build-up was very compelling, it was beautifully timed, and then the animators really went to town when they actually kissed. It's tempting to describe it in detail - it really was excellent - but I suppose I'd better not.
Sometimes, when we've got nothing better to do, my brother and I sit and discuss how annoying it is when things don't have final episodes at all - or rather, they don't know it's the final episode and so don't put any effort in (Hey Arnold, Blazing Dragons, a show my brother loved called Knightmare, and I suppose EGB - but how could they have known?), and it inevitably moves onto how final episodes are usually disappointing anyway (Quantum Leap, Futurama - yes, I know there are some TV movies, so hopefully that will be resolved). Before today, we could only ever think of one exception, and that was The Incredible Hulk. But now we have two - Danny's finale was wholly satisfying.
I've read that there are more plans to march on the studios in New York in the coming July. I wish they'd never started it - 53 episodes over three seasons is plenty - but what do these irate fans really hope to achieve now? They could never make any more episodes after that without ruining it - but, thankfully, they surely never will.
(Let us all hope fervently that Season 3 has its second run on Nicktoons soon. It won't affect, I think, anyone else here - but please do it for me.)

At last, they put a picture of the kiss on Wikipedia! I really really really can't think of a better TV kiss. (Nicktoons will be re-showing season 3 - starting with "Kindred Spirits", the last episode of season 2, which for some reason wasn't shown with the rest of the season - on Saturdays and Sundays, starting this weekend. I'm so excited! ;D)

I really really really can't think of a better TV kiss. It's truly a lovely image. I love the way he's cupping her chin like that. I've just had a look at the Danny Phantom wiki page, and was mightily impressed that Brian Cox and David Carradine did some voice acting on this show. I really should give this show a look sometime. I don't have Nickelodeon (don't really want to pay for more crappy channels on my TV, especially not to the evil Sky empire... grrr), so I'll have to take a look around and see where I can find it elsewhere.

It's truly a lovely image. I love the way he's cupping her chin like that. Spoilers (Jason may care) I know! ;D It's SO COOL! She gives him a little peck, and he doesn't really do anything, so she looks away all embarrassed - and then he does the chin cupping thing and kisses her, and then he brings up both his hands and slips them around her neck, and then they kiss for a bit, and then when they break apart they touch foreheads and look all intense for just the right amount of time. Now I call that a very thorough piece of animation. Then they smile and Danny says, "Wow. I should save the world more often." And then he goes off and saves the world, with the help of a few other ghosts. (It was a potential parting forever moment, as far as they knew, but I don't think any of the fans really believed the plan wasn't going to work.) They kiss one more time, in the final scene, when Danny's back in his human form. Then he changes and carries Sam off into the moonlight. I tell you, it was wonderful to finally have a cartoon ship I've been following be wrapped up properly - that has never happened with any of the others. (I know, it's silly how excited I am about it. ) They have a few fairly famous people doing voices. I guess Martin Mull has only ever done Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but he's brilliant as Vlad. Peri Gilpin aka Roz from Frasier has had (at the point I'm up to) two appearances as Desiree, a wish-granting genie. My brother says the Fright Knight should be played by James Earl Jones. I agree he's the perfect choice - but perhaps a little too famous for Danny Phantom. There is, actually, one that Ghostbusters fans might be vaguely interested in: Peter MacNicol aka Janozs Poha plays the ghost of a quintessential nerd from the fifties named - of course - Sidney Poindexter, in the episode "Splitting Images", which happens to be the first one I saw. (Somebody, or several somebodies, have done a very thorough job on those Wikipedia pages. Sam's page in particular is rather poorly written, but I've seen worse.)

(Incidentally I really don't like Danielle.) Yeah, here's a nickname for her, "Mary Sue Phantom". Also I watched Phantom Planet and I must say I'm impressed. ***SPOILERS: HIGHLIGHT IF YOU DARE*** Pros: * Danny & Sam together: And the fandom rejoyced. I mean it's nice this ends with them together so that the DannyxSam shippers don't get uber-pissed. * Jack tells Vlad off=Badass. I mean all this time Jack thought that Vlad is still his old buddy from college. Unaware of his evil intentions which include killing him and steeling his wife. How Jack acted so cold to his once friend when he learned the truth was a great moment for a usually goofy character. * I actually cracked up a little with the Skunk Punks line. * Nice to see Danny gets the recognition he deserves... * And his parents are proud of him for who he is!
Cons: * Danny's true alter-ego revealed really makes "Reality Trip" more irreverant than it already is. * What became of Masters Blasters, after they are quickly taken down by Vlad they just vanish. It seemed that Valerie gave up after being outflanked by MB but no fate happened to the EGB wannabes. * Tucker is mayor... How did that happened? * There could have been more foreshadow on how that white streak & the rays from the ghosts caused Danny to regain his powers. * Vlad's 'death' seems more comedic then it should be. * Danny acted like a selfish jerk wanting to & after losing his powers, thankfully Sam talked him out of his bad vibe. All in all, a nice way to go out.

dam you tube doesn't have the hole thing Uh, no it does have the whole thing, look up "Danny Phantom Planet" and you'll find it in six parts. Unless Viacom somehow in the timespan of 2 days became d!cks again and forced it to be removed from the site.

Nobody voted for Danny/Vlad, thank the Codes. It's scary enough that it's still there. If it makes you feel any better there are some real freaks in the Digimon fandom too. Like one guy I've encountered on Digital Dive who's a furry and likes Hitler. I swear I'm not making that up. Most popular hentai character in Digimon? Renamon (see dma.wtw-x.net/dexrena.shtml for non-hentai pictures) And that's not even mentioning the Koji/Koichi twincest crowd... Er, anyway...thank the Codes the GB community doesn't seem to see much of that stuff. Slash stories and Mary Sue Bangs Egon stories are as racy as it gets. No Venkman Having Sex With Slimer Stuff... ...or at least none I know of.

Danny/Sam being in the lead with Danny/Valerie a not so close second is just right. Both are heavily featured in the series, and (thankfully) the D/V ship isn't even an issue by the end. Others with votes: Vlad/Maddie (1) Fair enough, if you like seeing him chase after her in his crazy way and her getting mad about it. They were married in an episode in which Danny changed the past and created an alternate timeline, but unhappy. Danny/Ember (1) No way. Ember is automatically cool because she's voiced by Tara Strong, but she is also a ghost and Danny's enemy. Fenton/Phantom (2) Danny did once manage to split into the two different forms, which was funnier that I was expecting, and needless to say turned out to be a bad idea. So it's not strictly speaking impossible - just weird and a bit sick. The only way that ship could work was if it referred to Danny spending a bit of quality time with himself. Someone seems to have said Vlad/Danny in the thread, in spite of not voting. (There's some seriously nasty Vlad/Danny stuff on adultfanfiction.net - eek! ) I scrolled down, but was forced to stop before I found any of the "other slash (please specify)" pairings. There were too many Danny/Stars and Sam/Kwans. Er... no. "Phantom Planet" ( SPOILERS): I agree with a lot of the points Ghostbuster Don made: you're right about all the pros. The moment of transition with Jack and Vlad was just wonderful - the build-up, and the parting moment itself. "I never meant to hurt you, Vladdy" etc. And, well, we all know what I think about Danny and Sam. Also, I thought at the time that having everyone, including Maddie and Jack, find out Danny's identity in "Reality Trip" and than have their memories wiped was just dumb - and now it proves to have been ruinous to the final revelation. It could have had so much more impact - so, right again. Danny being an insensitive jerk isn't at all particular to this episode - I wouldn't exactly call it a con. That's just how he is - but of course, he comes through in the end. The climax was pretty awesome too. Making the whole world intangible... so cool!
