A little quickie while the board's still functional: Extreme Ghostbusters: Eyes of a LoverFollowing on from the episode "Eyes of a Dragon", the Extreme Ghostbusters are asked to attend the wedding of Michael Fu and the Chinatown merchant's daughter. Short and sweet. A/N: In spite of what you may think you know about me, please don't assume that the opinions expressed in this story correspond exactly with my own. Anyone wanting to argue that what's said here is out of character is of course welcome to do so, but I shall disagree and I shall give reasons.

Neat little piece. Presumably some time in 1998, between "Hearts In Eclipse" and "Forever" as they mention Janine's wedding preparations.
“Too good,” Eduardo muttered audibly. “If you’re gonna emigrate to America you can’t expect your kids to behave like they’re living back in the homeland - you can’t have it both ways.”
It's an interesting paradox (some might even say hypocrisy) of Eduardo to be taking this approach when he still prefers to be referred to, and call his brother, their full names instead of "Americanized" nicknames like Eddie and Carl.
Of course, this was also nine years ago, and perhaps having children of his own has changed his mind some over time?

I liked this one. Just the little conversations made the whole idea come alive in my head. I don't think anybody was out of character at all, but then I didn't watch enough of EGB so the best way I can picture how everyone's supposed to be comes your fics Rosey.
Also, my favorite line:
“Because,” said Eduardo, leaning across Garrett and Roland - he didn’t want to be saying this too loudly - “you have to go to a wedding if you’re invited. Everybody hates you if you admit to having better ways to spend your Saturday.”

Thanks, CJ. It just really grates on me when I'm accused of writing ooc (which has happened probably once or twice in my entire five-odd years of writing fanfiction), because it's something that I try extremely hard not to do. Neat little piece. Presumably some time in 1998, between "Hearts In Eclipse" and "Forever" as they mention Janine's wedding preparations. It's kind of an all-access story, but I thought I'd slip that in for those of us that are familiar with the Timeline. And really, the Melnitz/Spengler wedidng had to be at some stage of development because Eduardo and Kylie aren't together in this story - and, if you think about it, there's very little (if any) time after the series ends in which they're not together and in which Egon and Janine are not engaged (I'm not going to add, "If that makes sense" - I've read it through, and it does). I didn't want to be getting into any real debate over this - I don't like trouble - but I will say that it's an opinion I've heard from the children of immigrants in the UK. I guess it is possible for the subsequent generations to have it both ways, to some extent, by taking and rejecting aspects of both cultures as they choose. As Kylie says to Eduardo: "We talked about how westernised she is, but maybe she has ways of showing that she’s also really proud of her roots. Sort of like you.”But what he's really saying is that immigrant parents, who only want certain things from the different culture and perhaps would like to pick and choose for their whole family, ought to expect their children to become acclimatised. He believes that if the younger generations make choices the older ones wouldn't, then they should be allowed to do so without objection. In answer to your question, Fritz, I don't think he changes his mind at all. I try to show him making attempts to keep his daughters in touch with Hispanic culture, but whatever they ultimately choose to take or reject from it, he'll respect their decisions. Moving on - it's tempting to bring Michael and Soo back in the present day, with a couple of kids in tow or something - but right now I can't think how to fit them in.
