I liked the way that one went. There's a part of me that says "Is it really going to be that easy?" but the other voice in my head replies "C'mon, like the Venkmans and the Spenglers he'd endured so much trauma and drama that he's earned 'easy' "Exactly. His 'hard' was turning into a Terror Dog, losing Dana (even though he never even had her in the first place), having a failed marriage, and working with his ex-wife and the two men he 'lost' the women he liked to.
This is just the Universe balancing things out for him.
If the self that I was two years ago saw some of the stories I've done lately, I might have even surprised him with the sympathetic portrayals I've managed of Louis Tully. I guess because, deep down, once I move past the "The little twerp got into the middle of something he shouldn't have been allowed to get into the middle of" idea, he's actually a pretty sympathetic character. I think just about everyone can identify with the pain of realizing the one you care for loves someone else.
I've been there too. At first I didn't care one bit about him, I only saw him as the guy standing in the way of the best fictional couple in the world.
Once I got over myself and really started to think about his side of everything, I began to feel sympathetic towards him.
First he didn't have his love for Dana reciprocated and then there was the disaster with Janine.
Sure, he should've kept to himself, but it's not entirely his fault. She's to blame as well for letting it happen (and Egon too for ignoring Janine and causing her to go that route) so he deserves to be cut some slack.
Frankly, when it comes to romance, Fate has been enough of a bully to him. He deserves this happiness.
I pretty much suggested Garrett for the joke at random; anyone else could've worked. Heck, since Rosey got Garrett married last year, the only one really still single is Roland (lol)
Oddly enough, I was actually considering changing Garrett to Roland, but decided at the last minute to keep it the way it was.
I was going to post this over at the Omnibus Fanfic board, but I was wondering something first; do Sam and this story make it into the time line, or will this be labelled apochrypha?
