Here is the basic idea of a character I thought up for him:
Samantha Doris Jessome _____
5'3, thick blue-framed glasses, shoulder-length brown hair often in a small braid, a bit of grey visible. Hazel eyes. Born on June 3rd, 1964.
Works as a librarian. She enjoys working in the library because it's peaceful and gives her a chance to read.
Prefers peaceful, quiet situations.
Is very helpful to anyone at the library.
Has a hamster named Odysseus after the main character from one of her favourite books, The Odyssey.
Prefers reading good books as a pastime and hasn't seen a tv show in years. She doesn't even own a tv, in fact. She does like foreign movies though, with or without subtitles.
Sometimes loses herself in a book to the point where she doesn't notice anything else around her.
Likes to discuss books and other topics, but only once she's been engaged in conversation. She rarely starts conversation herself. She's too nervous to.
She doesn't actively seek to socialize. A bit on the shy side. Large, noisy crowds make her feel uncomfortable, so she obviously doesn't like parties.
Wears plain clothes: skirts and blouses in pastel colours. Wears loafers and sneakers only because they're comfortable. Wears a watch and a simple pearl necklace as her only jewellery. Doesn't wear any make-up. ________________________________________
So, what do you guys think? Would she make a nice partner for Louis? Or would he be better off with someone else?

Yes, I think she will make a nice partner for Louis. That is a great idea and they do have so much in common. I say go for it!

First you praise my story, and now you praise my character. I like you! ;D Seriously, though, thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.

I can certainly imagine that they could 'cancel each other out' with their talking at lengths about their 'relative' dull subjects. Seriously though, I think she could work... though she may need a little tweaking... I don't know, give her something Louis would go for in a woman. Did... did I just say that?

Books are not dull. Yeah, ok, some books are dull, just as some movies are dull and some music is dull and so on and so forth - but the reason so many people read for pleasure is because they know where to find a good book, and not because they are dull. Ok? So, to sum up: books, not dull. Anyway. As long as this woman doesn't give books a bad name, she sounds like a good character - kinda sweet. If I was going to write the story, I was thinking of going for something a little more... unexpected (kinda why the party-goer from GB1 sprang to mind - I think many of us wouldn't pick her out of a crowd and say, "She's the one for Louis"). But, you know, I might not... it looks like we all have very different ideas and if I use mine, someone won't like it. Hey, maybe he should just join a dating agency and we could try 'em all...

Erm, hello... I read books. I actively read them and I said 'realtively' dull, relatively compared to say, busting ghosts. Honestly.

Well, he likes Boggle, right? I could make that a mutual interest. Something for them to bond over.

What about if she’s a relative of Alice, the New York Public Library woman? Maybe that’s how she gets involved with the guys and Louis, somehow. Her introduction could be the guys answering a call to the Library she works in. It could all be a bit strange for her at first. Alice's uncle thought he was Saint Jerome, so that’s a bit weird and unique. That could make her stand out a bit. Maybe she could be a bit of a loopy librarian? Someone shy, but with a few light bulbs short of a full set.

While she's normally pretty reserved, she comes alive when discussing her favourite literature and manages to draw the listeners in too. I assure you, she won't give books a bad name.

For some reason, Louis actively reminds me of Dilton Doiley from the Archie comic series.
A very shy, bookish individual who is a relative loser with women (though the difference is that Dilton somehow has a bit of Egon mixed in that the hot science chicks dig his large cranium)

I planned out the story at work today and I'm ready to start it now. Maybe don't let your boss see this. I'm sorry - I still haven't read the last story you released yet. Thing is, if you release stories in the weeks building up to New Year, I'm likely to be frantically finishing essays about poetry and stuff. Obviously I'd rather read fanfiction, but there it is. Anyway, you've had some good reviews - I'm looking forward to it. I am particularly looking forward to seeing something go right for Louis for once in a way.
