I've never seen a single Die Hard movie. Never, never, never. It's Bruce Willis, isn't it? I'll check before I post this... Yeah, sorry, memory failure there. Anyway, that explains why I haven't got around to watching it - Willis gets on my nerves. I'll watch them all someday though, I promise.
Fact: I have caused this thread to deviate waaaaaaaaay off the point.
When you're writing don't you inject just a little bit of yourself into the story, anyway? I mean there may be something that really bothers you and you just have to express it in a more creative way than just discussing it on a forum. So may be you vent through one of the charaters, as long as you keep them in character, I don't see that as so bad. But yes the real strong Mary Sues are just pathetic and sad. They need to wake up and smell the realtiy. These characters while larger than life are still fictional and as such they'll never be able to have them. Even if the characters were real they'd never go for someone so obvious like that, anyway. Slashers are just as bad. They're disrepectful to the characters and the relationships that have been well-established over the past X amount of years in canon. I also find it terribly insulting to my intelligence as a true fan. Whether it is GB or Star Trek or whatever. I don't mind seeing altenate words such as manhhood or womanhood used in adult fics as long as the correct terms penis and vagina are used as well. I just think that it keeps the writing from getting boring using altenate words. BTW it's an awful lot of fun picking out faults of certain people. Why does she deny that Clara is a Mary Sue? It's so obvious that it is. Clara... hmm... rhymes with Sarah. Just the name alone screams Mary Sue. ;D
Janine and Egon are like two halves of the same soul separated aeons ago by fate and preordained to meet each other, no matter the odds, every lifetime throughout history... throughout all eternity. Taken from my fic "The Lady in Red."
