You do realize that now she'll find this E/J sanctuary and destroy it, right? And amazingly enough, when I started to watch RGB after I saw GB the first time, (It's been a long time, I forget which I saw first) I actually looked forward to seeing how Janine would try to get Egon to notice her. There were, unfortunatly, quite a few eps that I didn't get to see (stupid Christian babysitter). But, I still saw a few key eps including(I think) 'Janine, you've changed'. Good times, mostly. EDIT: I noticed this link at the top of the page after I posted this. It's a link to a place where you can buy the entire series in four boxed sets. And if you look at the picks of the boxes, they have Egon and Janine on the bookends. RGB DVD collection

At the risk of taking this OT, I hope that, should that happen, Fritz would have the situation well in hand. Not to bash, but there's a site I rarely visit anymore 'cuz of She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. I just don't get how someone can go against all animated/movie evidence and say "Well, they shouldn't be together, anyway."

The dividing line as I see it is this: debate what she says, but do not turn this into a series of personal attacks.
I doubt even if she knows the place exists she'd sign up here. It wouldn't quite be the same thing as Chad Paulson signing up for the Nightsquad board, but she might see it similarly.
That gets me too. It's one thing if you say "I only count the movies"--the last word thus far in Movies Only Continuity is Janine acting like a desperate ho all over Louis Tully. But then many of those writers proceed to put plenty of RGB stuff in their stories.
If you loudly say "I only count the movies" then stick to it. Don't try to justify stuff that is even more out of bounds in the movies than it was on TV (Yes, I mean the Venkman/Janine nonsense--it's unjustifiable in the RGB/EGB continuities, but even worse in Movie Only--two words: Dana. Barrett.) Otherwise, you're engaging in continuity cherry-picking, and while I can't speak for everyone I else I'll certainly look less kindly on your efforts.
I could've done that too--I gave serious thought to going against EGB continuity a little and having the Spenglers already married and the twins born before 1997. But in the end it's proven quite satisfying to stick with what actually happened, warts and all. I could've cherry-picked and said GB2 never happened--but I didn't.
It makes the story all the more poetic in the end. These are two people who clearly belong together but spend fifteen years sabotaging themselves in one way or another. And both share the blame for that. But it's inspiring to say "They finally work past that, and live Happily Ever After"

And if you only count the movies, then you can't dismiss the E/J moments in GB1. Even if you dismiss the ‘Lucky Coin’ deleted scene from the first film, there’s always the fact that Egon takes Janine’s hand as they are running from the firehouse, that he holds her close when she admits she’s afraid he’s going to die, and that he smiles for the one and only time in the film when Janine runs up to him at the very end of the film and touches his cheeks affectionately. Granted, there aren't any E/J moments in GB2, but the movie continuity does begin with the very first film.

Signs you're becoming too obsessed with E/J:
You hear songs and think they're about E/J (I'm a big fan of Martina McBride, and you wouldn't believe how much of her stuff works)
You have a framed pic of 'em up on your wall (hey, it was a still I REALLY liked, and I didn't know my printer could do it...)
You want EJ4EVER as your vanity tags for your car (the hubby thinks I'm really nuts!)

One of them I will even use in the wedding story--I consider it VERY appropriate for a variety of reasons. Well, not framed...but I still have up an actual picture I did iin like 1989, that I drew with a ball point pen and colored with watercolor paints. Thankfully, I haven't had that inclination yet Holy Crap... In addition to what Jeremy mentioned (the E/J bookend pictures) you notice what else I see? Look closely at those pictures of the proton packs, the ghost trap, and the ectogoggles...

The set's a overpriced bootleg, I advise you guys don't go for it. Fritz, why haven't you scanned that watercolour and uploaded it to DA? I must say, I don't think about the E/J too much outside of when I'm doing GB related stuff...but I do think it's a meant to be thing, you know? I wish I knew that line about picking and choosing what's canon when I knew Sarah less and she was causing a ruckus. ;D And to go full circle... I could have sworn those were your equipment pics, but I just couldn't be sure as the PKE didn't look lik yours.

The set's a overpriced bootleg, I advise you guys don't go for it. Ben's right about it being a bootleg--the only official RGB DVDs are from England, and they're Region 2 (I think). Unlike Ben, I'm not gonna necessarily say "Don't do it" but be wary. Er...because I hadn't thought about it? It isn't--but the colors do match the PKE Meter 3.0 pretty closely (lol) Of course, the pack and trap pictures were from model sheets Paul Rudoff posted at Spook Central and the goggles were from the GBI game--all I did was color them. Still, it's kind of funny--kind of like when I realized the RGB episodes guides at TVTome had used some stuff from the Timeline

Since first and second have already been called I am taking the third spot for biggest Egon and Janine fan. I have been watching their relationship ALL of my life. I remember when "Janine You've Changed " came out I was a wreck, and I was only like 8 or 9. My mother had to pull me away from the tv, after the show went off cause I was crying I was so happy. I mean really if I knew they were meant to be together at age two then it should be obvious to everyone. I am addicted to this relationship. I remember reading all of the PKE readings from the comics and being so glad that people agreed with me that they should be together, I mean if that many sources agree then it has to be right. "the ‘Lucky Coin’ deleted scene from the first film, there’s always the fact that Egon takes Janine’s hand as they are running from the firehouse, that he holds her close when she admits she’s afraid he’s going to die, and that he smiles for the one and only time in the film when Janine runs up to him at the very end of the film and touches his cheeks affectionately. " I stole this quote cause I'm lazy, but this is all hard core proof that there has always been"something going on between them" and just like the book says "that was enough" I have all of the E/J relavant stuff from "Making Ghostbusters" photocopied, I keep the book continually checked out from my library but I don't own a copy. I have always had my own E/J universe(enter shameless plug for "The Ties That Bind Us" here), steming from the "alternate ending" to ghostbusters where they get married six months after Gozer, I always try to picture that ceremony, it would have been funny. An other moment in GB that soldifies, in my mind anyway, how much they belong together and similar and compatable they are, is something that is looked over a lot, in RGB Egon uses the word "fascinating all of the time, people acknowledge this because it is seen it fics, but what is not ever made note of is that he doesn't use that word in the movie and the only person who does is...drum roll please... JANINE!!! I believe that that conversation with her became so imbedded in his mind that he subconsiously started using her word in his everyday vocabulary. People are gonna think that's a stretch but I buy it. I really just want to see these two get together, and everytime I read something about I think everyone should let the E/J will they won't they suspense be in things really make me mad cause I am like, ENOUGH SUSPENSE ALREADY, 20 years is enough take them to Vegas an hitch them together. Which brings me to my next thought. Fritz, I want to know what song you have picked out, cause I too realate songs and movies to them and I am just curious as to whether the song is one I have considered or not, any hints, era, style, was it popular? Really it doesn't take much to keep me happy. And MissJanine, I don't think you are crazy, if I had a car that would be on my tag too, really I have thought about it before. And so I add my thoughts to the E/J sanctuary. ghostdiva

Yay! A supporter! Actually, I'm planning to get vanity tags soon, and EJ4EVER will be my second choice, after BRYSGRL (Barry's Girl)...unless I can slide it by the hubby.

We were talking about songs earlier. Here's one that's just TOO perfect. Listen to "There You Are" by Martina McBride, and tell me that wouldn't fit Egon and Janine. Perfect for the first dance at the reception. Either one of them could be saying that stuff. I just had it on in my car, and all I could think of was them.
Hubby and I compromised- I'm getting a license plate frame that says E/J 4EVER. Let's see if anybody that sees it can figure it out. ;D (Since I have an airbrushed plate that says Barry and Rose, the frame oughta confuse the HECK outta them!! *insert evil laugh here*)

I suppose her catalog of eruptions is on a cycle of about once a month, and she exploded again over at GBHQ. Funny how she seems quick to question the sexual motives of many of the male supporters, in light the recent discoveries of her recent fictional works, and the sexual connotations within. And let's just say, it's been tempting for both me and Fritz to reveal it to the GBHQ masses.
