Janine. Gutsy & questioning. The cartoon kept her accent to boot: hey! Melnitz is the most like a New Yorker out of the whole gang.

Probably because she is. According to canon, IIRC:
Egon- from Cleveland, Ohio Peter- the novelization of GB1 says Sedalia, Missouri Winston- New Jersey Ray- OK, he was born in the Bronx but was raised upstate

Fan canon pretty much has it that he grew up there with his mom, and his dad whenever he was around. The bios part of the Omnibus Fanfic part of the site has it worked out beautifully.

For some reason I always thought of Peter as being from Duluth, Minnesota (Lorenzo Music's home town). Maybe he spent his early years there then moved to Brooklyn for his teen years.

Like I said, I just used what the novel said. Fritz covered all this in the Timeline. I myself like the "grew up in Brooklyn, but was born in the Midwest somewhere" bit.

I see. It's just that Peter doesn't seem like Brooklyn material to me. You'd think for example that he'd have an accent like Janine's, ah well, maybe he suppressed his accent in his college years so he'd sound more attractive to the ladies...

Well, the fan conjecture is he was born in Brooklyn, but moved around with his Dad.

I had another thought about that line while I was at work. Maybe he wasn't referring to himself as being the kid from Brooklyn, but Janine? Maybe he was saying that while Kildarby was pretty scary to the people of Ireland, that he couldn't scare Peter since Peter is around Janine on a daily basis, and therefore in his eyes Kildarby seems tame compared to her. Bet he's glad though that she wasn't around to hear that?

Maybe it's because I'm a youngin' and I loved the cartoons et al...but I would go for Slimer. I did think him hilarious in the movies (which is all I've been able to see recently in years), but also because frankly, he's an icon of the Ghostbusters. I really can't imagine the whole concept without him and although he IS best ala the movies, being occasional comic relief.

I think almost everybody agrees with that...
Slimer as Comic Relief, Babbling, Eating Stuff and Sliming Venkman=Good
Slimer Talking Coherently and Being Treated Like The Fifth Ghostbuster=Bad

Hell, even as a kid I was wondering why the heck Louis had been in a jumpsuit in the cartoon. Or even in general.

Er...oops? Note to self: Don't get Jason angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry Lol...like just about everyone else... Just as long as you don't start writing fan fics where you sweep her off her feet and beat up Egon and Louis. Concensus here also. I dunno..."Big Trouble With Little Slimer" was a pretty so-so episode, and since the show as a whole only got worse from there, any further Peck appearances probably would've been stupider and stupider. They probably would've teamed him up with Professor Dweeb The GBI game had Peck become an anti-GB activist, running something called the "Fraud Squad". That's a cool idea, but some producer probably thought doing something like that on Saturday Morning TV would be boring.
