Well, folks, this is what I have done... With the stylesheet designs I'm contemplating using in the Ectozone (see here for the example) I discovered some hacks that let me use some of the very same looks on the Ectozone Message Board. I admit, I really like the idea of the board actually looking like the rest of the site. So I figured...try it out here for a few days or so. See how everyone likes it. If you love it, let me know. If you hate it, let me know.

Gosh, that was a surprise. I certainly don't hate it, but I don't believe in love at first sight either. I'm going to wait until I get used to the change before I vote. (I don't care what anyone says - autism is contagious.)

What does that have to do with autism? Do you know someone with autism?

ok I have an issue...I like to keep my favorites list on the side of the screen, and because its there the menu gets smushed into the board. Can this be fixed? (Crosses fingers) Or am I doomed to have to deactivate my favorites list every time I visit your state of the art facility?

(Crosses fingers) Or am I doomed to have to deactivate my favorites list every time I visit your state of the art facility? Hm...I opened my Favorites window and I see what you mean... The easy answer would be to remove the link bar. I already don't plan on having it at every page. Or I may rejigger the codes and see what I can do about that--it's currently in a seperate floating cel, and it's position is determined by the left margin not the rest of the layout. Thanks for letting me know. This is exactly why I'm testing these out.

Happened to me, too. I just closed my Fav list, and everything straightened out.
And is "Can I have some?" good or bad?

What does that have to do with autism? Do you know someone with autism? I know several children with autism (though that by no means makes me an expert). Autistic people hate change, and I have a slight internal autistic reaction whenever a website changes, like if Fritz changes the board (but I don't scream and cry, like I might do if I really was autistic). But now that I'm back looking at it a second time, I must say I'm beginning to like it. I think I'll go vote now...

One board I visit (which shall remain nameless *cough*newsarama*cough* ) actually had an internal war over a board re-do. Some posters even left! Ridiculous! It tends to disorient me for a day or so, then I get used to it. The content's what I go to a board for (well, that and friends ).

I took the nav center out for now. I'll try playing with the codes on my test board, and see if I can make it work better.
I'm not sure which way to go with the link colors yet....the red works well on the board, while the white looks better to me on the web site...I'd hate to have them different (like I said, trying to unify the look of the site and the board is the point of much of this) I'll probably stick with the white, but that's not set in stone.

I just noticed something weird. When I click on my Favs list to come here, or switch screens on the site itself, it shows the old setup for a second or two before it shows the new one.

That's the default layout loading, then the codes added to change it load. The speed of the change varies according to how fast your connection and processor are.

Hm...this little box might be a good substitute for the sidebar...
