Any Digimon fans in the audience? Hrm...didn't really think so... But here it is anyway, something I've had lying in my hard drive for two years now: A Ghostbusters/Digimon crossover. Apocrypha: Digibusters, Part OneA strange computer problem sends the guys and Janine into a bizzare alternate dimension that Ray recognizes as the "Digital World" straight out of the Digimon anime... Part two is done and will be posted next week. Whether I finish the story depends mostly on whether anyone thinks I should. I hope you'll at least give it a try.

I'm not exactly what you might call a fan, but I did get strangely into the first season of "Digimon", quite unintentionally. It was weird - I am not the slightest bit interested in Japanimation - to tell you the truth it freaks me out most of the time for various reasons. But I was taking practice exams at the time and "Digimon" was just the least challenging thing on TV when I got home. It was on every weekday, and I just used to slob out in front of it and ignore the voice in my head that said I should be studying for the next exam (hey, they were just practices - I actually did really badly but aced the real things a few months later).
Well, the Digivolve sequences were pretty exciting after the dullest exams, but the monsters themselves didn't really appeal. I found some of the human characters intriguing though, and there was one in particular that always compelled me to tune in the next day: TK, an adorable little boy in a green hat, full of the inspiration of childish innocence and optimism. He was just too cute! It even transpired that he and his older brother Matt (who had one of my favourite names and was even quite attractive for one of these weird bug-eyed implausibly built characters) had a broken home storyline, which is totally the kind of thing I can get into.
I tried watching season 2. The most obvious problem was that TK had aged about - mmm... I dunno - about 7 or 8 years? (A fiver says Fritz is going to come up with an exact number. Any takers?) It was ok, but until Ken and his nice long blue hair joined the team a little way in the people characters didn't interest me much more than the monsters. It was a nice bit of escapism, so I kept watching, but when the original cast disappeared altogether and made way for an entirely new concept I gave up on it.
Until now, I guess...
I've actually read about half of the story so far. I'll go read the other half and then comment on the fanfiction board.

;D The actual time difference between Season 1 and 2 wasn't consistant in the dub--sometimes they said three years, sometimes they said four. In Japan, though, it was definitely three years--Season 1 took place in 1999, Season 2 in 2002 (two years after it was aired in 2000); so in Season 2 TK and Kari were the same age everyone else was in Season 1

I’ve never watched Digimon or Pokemon before, but I must say that even though most of the names went over my head, I managed to get the gist of what was going on, and I did enjoy this story. I really loved the reactions of the guys and Janine when they discovered what they’d turned into. This is a very interesting crossover, and I’d love to know what happens next, and how they manage to get back to their former selves.

Ha! Oh wait... no one took me up on the bet. Three years? Seriously? Ok, so... 7-10? I guess that's possible. In season 1 I thought they were more like 5 or 6 though. Oh... I don't care. Fritz, how come TK isn't little and cute in his picture?

It should be on that page--I put the Season 2 picture on top, but the Season 1 should be right below it.
(Both are from Toei model sheets widely available on the web)

Okay, well, I read it and though I didn't understand like half of it I still thought it was pretty good. Just throwing the guys into something like this is always fun.

Thanks. I figured "throwing the guys into it" was probably the best way to go--myself, Donny, and Jeremy aside, Ghostbusters and Digimon fandom don't intersect much, so having the Ghostbusters (except for Ray because he's a cartoon buff) not know anything about the predicament meant the GB fans in the audience start pretty much at the same place they do. A couple of side notes: I forgot to acknowledge one influence on this story, a GB/Pokemon crossover written by Princess Artemis. If I find the link I'll put it up. And Ray definitely passes along an appreciation for this show along to his son in the GBOT continuity: Take a look at Davis Motomiya and tell me if he reminds you of anyone

I guess I'll just put this out there--if anybody is interested enough in the Digimon world, (or maybe just in seeing how I do with characters with absolutely no connection to Ghostbusters) I've released one Digimon fan fic Al and I wrote about five years ago: digimon.ectozone.net/ff/2501.htmlI do plan to continue "Digibusters", but it's kind of low on the priority list, what with so many stories that "count" on my plate. I hope you'll be patient with me.

I know, nothing to update--I haven't worked on this story because of all the stuff that "counts" I'm concentrating on, but I still hope to continue this some day.
So anyway, here's a Champion Level bump for this one.
