Ghostbusters Apocrypha: The Legend Of Mary SueApocrypha Era Two Everyone knows what Mary Sues are. If you've read a Mary Sue fan fic-- any Mary Sue fan fic--you'll know what to expect here. Think of this as my primer on "How NOT To Write Ghostbusters Fan Fiction"

OK, I need a change of undergarments after reading that! Plus I have to explain to the hubby why I'm laughing so hard I'm crying...
You owe me a new keyboard, Fritz. ;D
Just brilliant. Thanks to you (and Ogre) for starting my new year off with a good laugh. Have a good one, you two.

A few weeks ago, when Vincent did a thread on Mary Sues, I was inspired and knocked this out in a couple days. I thought about releasing it right away, but decided to wait until the holidays were over (more or less)
Glad you liked it.

Now, that was hilarious! I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or a bad thing that you've just written the best Mary-Sue story I've ever read. I think my whole world's just gone askew. ;D

Too funny; was chuckling aplenty (how often can one use that phrase?).
The sad part is people actually write stories like this to be taken seriously. Zoinks! (one day I'll have enough pity & patience to completely read bad fanfic without gagging)

My god Fritz, I havent even finished reading it yet and I can definitely say that is the FUNNIEST fanfiction I've read in my entire life. I just got to the part where the demon tore Janine in half for no reason. I'm so glad someone finally pointed out how people sometimes make Ray out to be a friggin 4 year old. Ray is my favorite character and that pisses me off to no end when they do that.
-----After Reading...------
STILL the funniest fanfiction I've ever read (and not just for Ghostbusters) and Masterbatory is now the most entertaining word ever. Great job Fritz!

As I only ever read Mary Sue fics for laughs anyway (oh, they're funny, very funny ;D), it's a bit difficult to predict how I'll react to a parody written by somebody who loathes them and doesn't think they're at all amusing. But we shall see... Nice opening sentence (I would have abstained from the explanation and slight telling off beforehand if I were you, but that's just me). Ah, interesting reference to the cleaning crew. I'm only emergency backup now, but recently I was lackey to the people who play cleaners, many of whom are legal immigrants - they are treated appallingly. I don't know how conditions are for them in America, but anyway, back to the story... Hehe, Class Fifty. That's funny. ;D (I'm quick, aren't I? ) Yeah, ok, time to stop listing the funny moments, too many... A little South Park influence, maybe? And Lord Badass is a great name (maybe it wouldn't please you that it reminds me ever so slightly of an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch). Aahhh, nice ending. ;D And that's me done.

Believe me, I tried to keep in mind the mistakes made with just about every character. Venkman: Characterization taken from Venkman/Egon Slash stories ("I see....she turned both of you straight..." "I only screwed all those women over the years because Egon denied me...") Egon: Immediately fell in love with Mary Sue. Supposedly "never in love with Janine" despite all the evidence to the contrary. Janine: Desperate, slutty harpy (ie reads "Slut" magazine; hints that she slept with Venkman one Thanksgiving, which I admit was a broadside at an actual story on GBN, and not one by You Know Who) Winston: Talks in hip-hop slang. Acts stupid. Is portrayed as an afterthought ("Winston suddenly remembered he was in this story and reacted") Ray: No hints he's an intelligent paranormal researcher. Gets increasingly juvenile as the story goes along (ie watches Spongebob and carries a Barney the Dinosaur doll) Well, okay, Slimer doesn't get much misportrayal--but I pretty much vented my spleen on Slimer misportrayals in "Gemini Rising" Well, definitely with the scenes of Satan lusting after Saddam Hussein--I wrote this a few weeks ago, remember, so I didn't know how timely the scene with Satan being excited Saddam was about to arrive in Hell would end up being.

Wow. I know some of that stuff is true because when some people write the guys they do go way out of character and make Ray act like a baby. When I write my stories I keep them mostly in character and for Ray, too. He does swear once in a while. I write him like an adult.

As soon as I read the description of the magazine Janine was reading (and the ad), I knew I was in for a wild ride.
