I don't know what's going to happen now. I do think I'm going to get away from this computer for awhile, at least a day or two, because I've always said that when the internet is upsetting you, it's time to get away from the internet. Please, don't be gone for too long. It gets cold here without you.

Vincent: Again, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you took offense at anything I said--that was the furthest thing from my mind. Cliff's post I somehow missed--even as dead as this place is, it happens. Again, I apologize for that. I honestly was a little blindsided by this, and maybe it just added to all the frustrations..both because of the sad state of our community and things going on in Real Life. I didn't set out to hurt anybody. I didn't set out to offend anybody. I just set out to share my affection for one of the absolute best sets of characters I've ever seen...as I say on my fan fic page, I even prefer them to many of my own creations. I set out to share my affection for two of those characters in particular. Other than one obsessive person with lots of issues, I didn't think that would offense anyone either. But after a while feeling like you're shouting in the wilderness beats you down, especially when somehow, without even realizing (and certainly not intending it) I've hurt one of the people I see as my ally in this increasingly futile endeavor. Should I have done the story differently? I don't know...if I'd thought it would be such a bone of contention yeah, I would've thrown in a note or two of "well, Belmont's off at some Hermetic tribunal" or something and left it at that. I thank you all for your kind words. You're a great bunch of people. I don't know what's going to happen now. I do think I'm going to get away from this computer for awhile, at least a day or two, because I've always said that when the internet is upsetting you, it's time to get away from the internet. It was more the comment of "Too much Vincent" that set me off. Then you mentioned that you thought I would be mad if I weren't in it as much as I was. Hell, man...I'm flattered that I was even in it at all. It just seemed like everyone's been feeling like I'm some sort of ego-crazy Gary Stu maniac. Again, blame the NOMAD vs. Doom Patrol thread for that.

Surely there's too much Garbiel Martin as well?
I don't know... I don't see there being too much of Vincent... both Gabe and Vincent seemed to have an almost identical number of scenes and both are spellcasters in their own fields... Vincent and Gabriel were caught in the moment... it's the tailspin from the Parasite Eve story, and so they're still hanging aroung GB HQ... they haven't yet established the Manhattan Devision... so no, I don't think Vincent overstepped his bounds... but maybe I'm a little biased.
Fritz, I probably haven't said it enough, but your health is always paramount over your hobbies... real life takes presidence... so please, take your time... but don't chuck it in for a few misconstrued messages and some bad vibes.
All: If it weren't obvious by now... a few of us have been feeling, not for the first time, that we do stuff which few (that includes our regular readers, you guys... who are great for supporting us thus far) readers... interest seems to have dropped out in the fic gig and we do sometimes wonder if it's worth continuing... we just need some time to think.

Of course we'd miss you, Fritz. I guess if you're reading this you've come back, so welcome. You know how I value your friendship, and I know I'm not the only person around here you've formed an attachment to. Whatever you decide to do, I'm behind you.

Maybe we all take advantage of the fact that there are some extremely talented people out there who provide us with the only extension of the GB universe we have. I speak for myself, but I’m sure others also feel that without you guys, we’d have nothing, especially now that 88MPH has seemingly gone the way of the dodo. It’s not just Fritz, it’s all of you. Kingpin, EGB Fan, Vincent, Cliff, etc… If it weren’t for you guys, and your fan art and fan fiction, the story of the GBs would have ended years ago. We wouldn’t have any progression with Egon and Janine, as they would still be stuck in dating limbo. We wouldn’t have any of the fine franchises which complement the existing world of the Ghostbusters. We wouldn’t have a decent explanation of why the heck Egon was estranged from the other Ghostbusters between the times of RGB and EGB. We wouldn’t have, in my opinion, a better, richer version of Extreme Ghostbusters, and an extension of the Venkman family. More than that, you all inspire others to pick up their tools and start to create their own stories. Without fan creation, we’d have none of this. The trouble is that there are only a few of you guys who can do it, and do it best. Unfortunately, it falls to you guys to carry on the stories we’ve loved through the years, and to further the characters we care about so much. We don’t thank you enough, and we take you for granted too much. That is our failing. If we could help you in any way, we could, but when it comes to writing great fan fic and drawing wonderful artwork, some of us just aren’t as gifted as others. All I can really say, is that if it feels too much like work, then stop. This should be a hobby. It should be a pleasure, not a chore. None of you should feel as though you are doing it because you have to do it. You should do it because you want to do it. And even though it might not seem like it at times, the interest is definitely still there. While stories are written, there'll always be people who want to read them. We might not comment, or only leave a sentence with 'well done, keep it up', but we do appreciate the work you guys put in to expand this universe we're all fans of.

This is why I love the Ectozone, even if all other fanfic places fall to dust, you guys still carry a torch. I and I'm sure the others are thankful of that. Maybe it's not so much a spoken word of thanks that does inspire the writer... but seeing the author's writing inspire someone else... and their ideas be universally accepted that does it for them... it's just a shame there aren't more people in the fanfic zones that are of this quality (not trying to sound like I'm sucking up) That's really quite spooky... I may explain some time, but you really hit the nail on the head.

I just don't think there's anyone out there who has the characters nailed as well as Fritz does. And as an E/J fan, it's an added pleasure to see stories that give them the relationship I'd always hoped they'd have.

I agree with everyone here. I only wish I could phrase my thoughts on the matter as well as you guys have.
Fritz, please don't get discouraged. You're an excellent fanfiction writer and your Omnibus is the best thing I've ever come across concerning the Ghostbusters.
I hold your website and your fanfiction in very high regard, and consider the fanfiction as being as close to canon a fan is ever going to get without actually working on a new cartoon about the guys.
If you threw in the towel it would be a great loss to the fanfiction community. Your work in this field has been phenomenal and it would be deeply missed if you quit.
I understand that you need a break, we all do from time to time, but please, don't leave forever. The Ghostbusters fandom needs you around.

Only someone who is truely a fan and really anal on the specifics could come up with a decent and coherant Timeline... which is also made in the best unbiased intents around. Seriously though, while it's a somewhat selfish notion to want you to remain here if you really felt you no lomger had a place... but you're well respected enough to provoke quite an emotional reponse should people believe you might be doing something for the wrong reasons. Don't be a stranger, mate.

"Shane, come back. Come back, Shane!" I understand the net can bring joy, sorrow & confusion (especially since you can't hear the writer & interpret their tone). I understand the need for a break.
Sometimes I feel inspired to really detail the good points of a story. Other times, it's "Good job. Stick to it." But Fritz, you write better & more realistically than Sheila Paulson, et al. Their stories are too goody-goody, piant by numbers for my tastes. Your, howver, are more true to life & complicated than that.
FanFic writers: I do appreciate your efforts & it has inspired me to write. I'm a inventive, intelligent, clever person & if you ever need a spell-checker, feedback, inspiration, or whatever, I'm a click away.
I'd rather lose 5 non-fritz-like members than lose the original fritz! What fun would the afterlife be without you, Fritz?

We thank you and will continue to bring honor and good times to the Ghostbuster's legacy. Fritz, thank you for all of your accomplishments and for giving as much as you do to this community. We love ya', brotha'. Don't let frustration cease what you enjoy doing to your heart's desire.
