Ghostbusters: Nodus1993--Timeline Year Eleven Egon Spengler can't catch a break. Ten years ago he'd helped found Ghostbusters Inc. Today he's living alone, dealing with a shock of a personal nature, and now somebody wants to "test" him...and in the process the agenda of Josiah Nodus becomes just a little clearer

My thoughts while reading:
To be safe, there may be spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution...
"WOAH!"
"Well, what did he expect?" *even knowing how it'll turn out*
"Him???"
"Whoopsie!"
"Of course! He'd figure that out easy!"
LOVE the ending!!! Now a lot of stuff in the other stories makes a bit more sense. But there's still questions...ones that other stories will answer...
*applause*

Great story Fritz! ; ;If you haven't read it yet go now and read this post after cause the rest of it is spoilers!! ;D ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;Spoilers : ; ; ; ; I must say Egon had a very bad day in this one, but I was proud of him for being able to see the error of his ways and realize that he needs to be more human. Now how are you gonna explain Egon's standoffishness at seeing Janine in EGB Darkness at Noon. You would think he would have jumped off the stage and ran into her arms, after that kind of realization. I'm still confused about Nodus but I'm sure you'll explain that in the future I also like the moment where Egon was about to get ride of something very precious to him... It reminded me of Titanic, when the old lady was threw out the necklace. So I guess you've seen the movie. Very good. ghostdiva

Somebody came up with a good thought somewhere, I think it was on GBCentral: Egon's still not sure she really still has any feelings for him, because it's been like six years since he's seen her, they parted on horrible terms, and he knows she married Louis Tully.
And as far as the computer trick that told Egon about that in "Nodus", remember that in "Clinically Insane" she's only just signed the divorce papers before she goes to see him. The final decree wouldn't be in the system yet.
He doesn't really know for sure about her still wanting him until "The Crawler". I'll touch on some of it in upcoming stories.

I can't stop thinking about the "phobia about driving" that Carillion (sp?) says Egon has. I thinik it might be because the only car Egon would have access to is probably good old Ecto. And driving that might be too much for him mentally, what with the "I drove them all away" thing he's got going on in his head. How right am I, Fritz?

Interesting thought. It was intended more as a bit of a nod to the 88MPH mini-series, where we find out Egon doesn't know how to drive. He clearly learns between 1984 and 1991, though--he drives Janine's car in "Zodiac Imperative" and again in "Dreams Reborn"
Plus of course with Ray and Winston gone, the ECTO-1 hasn't been maintained. As I recall, "Darkness at Noon" said it was a bit run-down.

*smacks self in head*
I didn't think of the 88MPH reference. Now I gotta reread the whole Legion thing. Even though I DID catch the reference Egon made to it when he was talking to Edward (the experiment that cost him an associate).

In addition, Ecto's insurance and taxing probably ran out, so if wouldn't be safe to drive it without that stuff...and why drive such a huge reminder of his past to work everyday?

That's why I figured he wasn't driving it. And in "Clinically Insane" we saw he was using it as a source for parts.

Some of that is going to be addressed in "Hearts In Eclipse"--which will be the next story I work on after I finish "Act Two"
Well, yeah...but remember: emotionally, she was reset to before "Janine You've Changed". And much closer to the time she was seeing Louis--which factors into the dumb things she does next.
And yeah, some of it was dictated by what was Established: we knew from EGB that she'd been "downsized", and hadn't seen Egon since the end of RGB. So we had to come up with some stuff to explain all of that--I think we smoothed over all those paradoxes as best we could.

Bump.
Someday, when all is said and done, this story will make a lot of sense. Someday.

It makes a lot more sense to me now than it did when I first read it...but the parts that still make me go is the whole Ascension bit, as well as the ones Nodus was thinking about, his own "Five Who Are One." At first I thought he was like a future, bitter Egon, and he was talking about his "former" friends, but now I know that's not true.

Bump again.
And to semi-repeat myself...a lot more of this story is going to make sense when "Gemini Rising" is finished.
