Ghostbusters Apocrypha: Til The Night Closes In1991--Non-Timeline Continuity A look at what might have been...things go much better for Egon and Janine in 1991, after "Invasion of the Danish Snatchers"... --------------------------------------- I first wrote this little piece about two years ago, when I was contemplating doing some modification to the official continuity. Basically, the issue was "JMS or EGB?" Do I follow the natural flow of events from "Janine You've Changed" and have the Spenglers get married in 1992 and the Twins born in 1993, or do I stick with the Official Version, namely EGB, which had Egon and Janine not married yet. After some soul-searching, obviously I stuck with the Official Version (and had the nuptuals take place after EGB) After the release of the Timeline I realized it'd be unseemly to start contradicting the very continuity I helped solidify, and I'd released Clinically Insane which was both well-recieved, fit the Official Continuity better, and would've obviously been invalidated by the "Spengler 1992" idea. (Just as a side note, I originally wrote the first part of Return of the Jersey Turnpike Terror with this idea in mind also, and actually set it in 1997. It was changed before release to take place in 2003)

Fritz, if you don't know what I think of it by now, then you haven't been reading the OTL board.

Oh. And there was I thinking it was my moaning and whining that made the difference. Well, obviously we've seen some of that before. I liked it better when the EGBs were hanging around in the background, but hey, it's still good. Lucky Janine doesn't mind a talker, huh? Seriously, this is definitive Fritz Baugh stuff and totally up to standard. Will anything more be coming out of this continuity?

I don't see any reason to, other than possibly the original draft of "Return of the Jersey Turnpike Terror". As I may have mentioned in the "Future Shocks" thread, it was originally written with Jake Kong and Eddie Spencer (of Filmation's Ghostbusters) instead of Dweeb and Loone, and was never finished--it ends with the conversation between the EGBs and the Spenglers about the attack in the Burger King.
I might release that as another Apocrypha, along with the Jake/Eddie version of "Future Shocks"

I really liked this Fritz, and I think you should do a whole apocrypha line. It would be interesting to see the twins born while the OGBs are still in business, don't ya' think ;D It was great, though and I am glad you posted it. ghostdiva

Bumping this one.
And remember, the "real" wedding of Egon and Janine is drawing ever closer...

I already made some comments. I thought of a new one just now. I don't think during my thought processes I ever refer to myself as "Miss Collins". But hey, maybe I'm strange. (Yes that is relevant to the story actually.)

DITTO This is so unnerving. I can barely check the website anymore, cause its just too exciting, it overwhelmes all of my brain circuts I dare say it makes me giddy. Most of it is just the realization that after this all other E/J stories are going to seem lacking by comparison. Ahhhhhhhhh ghostdiva

Now I'm going to be nervous that I've gotten you all too excited and will find the final result disappointing.

*gasp* NO WAY!!
It's just we've been looking forward to this particular chapter in Egon and Janine's life being told for such a long time, and since it's being written by someone who really knows/cares about the characters, plus the fact that it means so much to you to have this story right, that we KNOW it's gonna be great! It's just we have to have something to talk about while we wait.
Just tellin' it like it is!

[drools on desk] I thought it bizarre that other stories should come befopre "the big day", but I'll admit this event is challenging to say the least.
I know from my experince as a writer , I tend to put off the difficult & write the easy parts 1st.
To quote Dr. Frank N. Furter: "I shiver with anitici...........pation."

If you've read the other Omnibus fics (and if not WHY NOT??? ;D), you'd find that a lot of events in them lead to the big day, or are major points in the insanity that is Egon and Janine's relationship. The wedding story is called "Forever", and Fritz says we'll get it soon.
